One Human in New York Gives Us 5 Reminders about Humans Everywhere

The brainchild of photographer Brandon Stanton, Humans of New York is an innovative storytelling movement that celebrates unique lives in New York with a snapshot of them and a brief story.
The community has amassed over 16 million Facebook followers and a New York Times best-selling book.
Recently one image of a dad holding his cellphone, with a photo of his daughter on-screen, grabbed my attention and the attention of humans everywhere.

“I was 16 when my girlfriend got pregnant. We went to the abortion clinic on 59th Street.

We filled out the papers and everything.

Then right before we were called back, we looked at each other, and said: ‘Let’s get out of here.’”

The comments that the post provoked revealed so much truth from people everywhere about our shared experiences.

1.Humans everywhere have a heartbeat. One father lamented that the mother of his child chose to abort their baby and that he still listens to the heartbeat they recorded from the womb.
Please pray with me for moms and dads who heard the heartbeat of their babies and paid to end the pre-born baby’s life. Pray for their broken hearts to heal and for them to find forgiveness and grace.
One beautiful heart bravely shared that the sound of her child’s heart beating made her choose life. Please pray for the chance of every expecting mother to hear the heart of her baby beating.

2. Humans everywhere can take a picture worth a thousand words. Sometimes one of those words is life.
Many people responded to the post by reminiscing on ultrasound photos and videos of their babies allowing them to recognize that the “blobs of tissue” were actually children.
Please pray with me that people everywhere will dare to look at the pictures of their babies developing in the womb and choose life.

3.Humans everywhere are capable of accomplishing more than they imagine. Many responded to the post by sharing the harsh difficulty and seemingly impossibility of choosing life until they did.
I am so thankful and amazed by how many parents out there are achieving what they thought was impossible.
Please pray with me for mothers who feel like they have no way of giving a child a good life – that they would be exposed to the truth that they can, in fact, do all things through Christ who strengthens them.

4.Humans everywhere are the result of at least one amazing choice their parents made. I am amazed by the number of heartfelt, grateful posts I read that adult children wrote about their parents making difficult decisions to have them.
Our lives are so much better because of parents who chose life even in dire circumstances.
Please pray with me for more parents to have the courage to choose life and for children everywhere to be grateful for the gift our parents gave us.

5.Humans everywhere can choose life, even at the last minute.

The Facebook post is flooded with comments of parents walking out at the last minute and choosing life. It encourages me to believe in every person and continue praying for them, even when it appears to be too late.

Please pray with me for people to be inspired by the hope that –even at the last minute – they can make courageous, beautiful, miraculous decisions for their babies to live.
I hope that you are all encouraged as I am that humans everywhere are still choosing life.
