The alleged assailant is Torey Branch who has gone on trial charged with burglary, abortion, and criminal trespass, according to the New York Daily News. Branch, 34 faces up to 25 years in prison, if convicted.
Jones testified that Branch wanted her to have an abortion but she refused.
Ms. Jones broke down on the witness stand last week when she testified about the brutal attack which took place March 28, 2014.
Reporter Christina Carrega-Wood explained
Mia Jones, 35, was seven-months
pregnant when she was allegedly grabbed from behind by Torey Branch and
another man as she entered her building in March of 2014. Branch
repeatedly punched and kicked Jones in her face and stomach causing her
to miscarry, she said.
Jones had an emergency C-section and named the baby Kennedy.
“I just wanted to hold her I
wanted her to breathe and wake up, she was lifeless so was so innocent
and beautiful. I loved her with all my life,” Jones testified in
Branch’s Brooklyn Supreme Court criminal trial. The beating took a
horrible physical toll on Jones as well. Both of her eyes were
fractured, and she needed two blood transfusions and stitches for the
wound to her eye.

The Daily Mail’s Alexandra Klausner reported yesterday that before the attack, Branch had googled whether beating a woman could cause a miscarriage.
Klausner wrote
“Can being hit in the stomach
cause a miscarriage?” he supposedly typed in his web browser two weeks
before Jones was pummeled so badly that she had to have an emergency
cesarean to remove the dead child’s remains.
Police say Jones was on her way home from a doctor’s appointment when
Branch and another masked man (as yet unidentified) beat her.Source: NRLC News
