More on Judge Sonia

Do you watch Judge Judy?  Maybe, you will watch Judge Sonia.  Certainly the major media is watching Judge Sonia, but not quite the way they should be.  Certainly a firestorm erupted when President Obama nominated her for the Supreme Court.  In fact, recently President Obama said he wanted her confirmed so she could walk up the marble steps and begin to bring justice to our country.

Judge Sotomayor must be confirmed by the Senate and unless we have a major revelation, she will be.  You ask, what is the harm?  In many peoples eyes, this is what the past election was all about - the control of the Court.  By this I mean, whether the Court would be dominated by those justices who interpret the Constitution as it is written or by those justices who find penumbras on amendments that never existed.  The control of the Court has been the issue in the past two presidential elections.  It is quite possible that one or two other justices may retire after this term.

If we really want dialogue, the question I would ask, is why lady justice is wearing blindfold and why are her scales balanced?  Would they remain balanced if the blindfold is off?

Good death for humans or animals

A new specialty is being offered by euthanasia veterinarians that provides a peaceful death for your pet. In fact, some practices are devoted exclusively to providing home pet euthanasia.  This specialty has arisen because of the profound grief that comes with the loss of a pet.  Many organizations, including some schools of veterinary medicine, provide call in and on line resources for grief over the loss of a pet.

Pet owners have been quoted that they wanted their animals to die at home.  This allows the pets to be spared the anxiety of dying in a strange place.

I wonder how long it will be before we have visiting specialties relieving humans of their anxiety and allowing them to die at home?  I think this specialty might be called assisted suicide.  There is nothing wrong with anyone dying naturally at home, in fact, in many cases it is the natural humane way to die.  I think the animal specialties for euthanasia for the pets may, in fact, be setting up a specialty for humans.  Remember, all social engineering is preceded by verbal engineering.

In many instances, our young have blurred the distinction between animal and human.  This blurring is reinforced by every media outlet.  In fact, our young are immersed in a society that cannot separate the environment from animals and from humans.

Could this be setting up the Obama health care plan?

Steroids and health

Could God's gift of nature be changed by man?  Could infertility in both men and women be man made?  Could the pollution in our water supply be bad for your health?  Should your roof be painted white or should the one making the suggestion be committed?  Is there a hidden agenda?  Is the Vatican crazy?  A wise old saying, God always forgives, man sometimes forgives, but mother nature never forgives.

Early in 2009, the official Vatican newspaper L'Observatore Romano charged that environmental contamination by oral contraceptives is to blame for a devastating increase in infertility in men.  The article quoted Pedro Jose Maria Simon Castellvi, President of the International Federation of Catholic Medical Associations, " use of the pill for some years had a devastating effect on the environment by releasing tons of hormones into nature through female urine."  Immediately, there was a media outcry criticizing the Vatican, however time has vindicated the Vatican.  It's not crazy, the mainstream media was.

Let's take the word steroid.  It is a buzz word in recent years.  Athletes use it regularly to help enhance their skills.  Much has been made by Congressional hearings on the use of steroids by professional athletes.  In fact, most Americans have an opinion on steroids, but do they know the truth?  The word steroids encompasses a large class of biological molecules.  The main sex hormones are also steroids.  Few in the public are aware that oral contraceptives ( the Pill, Plan B, and RU 486) are all steroids.

Infertility among both men and women is a growing problem and we might add, a lucrative business.  Infertility in women is easier to explain than in men.  Women have for years taken contraceptive pills, sexually transmitted diseases have scarred the tubes and delay in childbearing have all contributed to infertility.  Infertility in men, however, is not as well publicized, but recent evidence is troubling.  In recent years many studies have documented lower sperm counts and poor sperm quality in men whose blood contains higher levels of certain pesticides and industrial contaminants.  No studies of blood of estrogenic pharmaceuticals have been published.  Some medical studies believe that contraceptive steroids are the culprit, however, because of our culture, no definitive study has been published.

I think the facts speak for themselves.  If females are effected by the steroids, certainly the males are also effected.  Perhaps our society should start calling the Pill, hormones, Plan B, RU 486 what they really are, steroids.  If they are bad for professional athletes and Congress gets involved, why haven't they gotten involved in the real steroid problem?   Maybe, they should live in the houses with the white roofs.

Obama's Supreme Court Nominee

On May 26th 2009, President Obama introduced his Supreme Court nominee, Sony Sotomayor. Immediately a firestorm arose. Opinions are still flying from the right and the left. The middle however is left entirely open. Justice Sotomayor is the third woman to serve on the nation's highest court, and the first Latina.

From the Susan B. Anthony list, (SBA), SBA' President Marjorie Dannenfelser stated: "Women are best protected by the rule of law - and blind justice. Their rights are most endangered when personal  preferences, ideology or painful personal history inform judgement. Susan B. Anthony and her early feminist compatriots fought for a human rights standard, sustained only through blind justice. When evidence of personal preference appears in any Supreme Court nominee's judgement, it should give all women pause. Given what we know about Judge Sonya Sotomayor, own judicial philosophy - indicating her support of policy making from the bench - Americans should be concerned about the role of personal preference in her overall judicial philosophy. When it comes to protecting all human life, one group is never served by undermining the rights of another. Women will never be served by ignoring the rights of unborn children."

From Americans United for Life (AUL), despite 17 yrs. on the bench, Judge Sotomayor has never directly decided whether a law regulating abortion was constitutional. AUL has reviewed two decisions which can be found on our web site  www.ifrl.org/lake

From National Right to Life (NRLC), "What we have seen of Judge Sotomayor's record, so far, sheds little light on her views regarding how the Constitution bears on the powers of elected lawmakers to protect the right to life of unborn children. Members of the Senate, should not be pressured to act on this nomination with undue haste. We believe it is critical that Senators thoroughly explore whether Judge Sotomayor believes that Supreme Court Justices have the right to override the decisions of elected lawmakers on such issues as partial-birth abortion, tax funding of abortion and parental notification for abortion. Pro-life concerns are reinforced by the knowledge that Judge Sotomayor has been nominated to the Supreme Court by a president, who himself criticized the Supreme Court majority for upholding the ban on partial-birth abortion, who previously had opposed a bill to recognize all babies born alive during abortions, as full protected by law and who endorsed a proposed federal law, (The Freedom of Choice Act) that has as it's major purpose the invalidation of virtually all of the types of abortion regulations that have been upheld by the Supreme Court as consistent with Roe v Wade."

There is no doubt that Justice Sotomayor will be confirmed by the Senate. The Democrats have the majority. We can only hope that Justice Sotomayor will face stiff and honest questioning on her judicial views.

Hooray for Adult Stem Cells

Embryonic stem cell research has produced to date no cures.  In fact, it has caused cancerous tumors in certain clinical trials, but it is part of the abortion agenda.

Adult stem cell research has produced countless cures and hopeful treatment for many diseases.  A new finding for use of adult stem cells has been reported  by scientists at University College-London.They have engineered adult stem cells to seek out and destroy cancer cells in mice.  These adult stem cells were found in bone marrow and connective tissue.  In the lab, these cells were able to find and kill cells from lung, squamous, breast and cervical cancer.  They also injected the cells into mice with breast tumors and showed they were safely able to kill the tumors, but leave healthy tissue intact.

Wouldn't you like your tax dollars to be used for this research rather than killing an embryo for useless research?

Protective legislation

Legislation has been introduced in Congress by Rep. Doug Lamborn (R- CO) that would remove federal funding for any school that dispenses the Morning-After-Pil (MAP).  The bill is called The School Children's Protection Act (HR 2458).  At present this bill has 44 sponsors.

Rep.Lamborn stated, "It is morally unacceptable for taxpayers to fund this drug for school age children.  Additionally, these drugs can lead to serious health consequences.  It is everyone's interest to protect our children.

The FDA has issued a ruling earlier this month that the MAP could be given out to children as young as 17 without a prescription.  Aside from the moral considerations, the MAP contains 4 times the amount of hormones as is contained in the birth control pill, which requires a physical exam and a prescription.  HB 2458 is good public policy.

Final Exit Network

The book Final Exit, written by Derrick Humphrey, was the first how to book on killing yourself, that achieved New York Times status as a best seller in the 1980's. We've come a long way baby. Now we have the Final Exit Network. Yes, that's the same network we blogged about several weeks ago. The very same network that was going to "guide" a young man from Chicago, suffering from a debilitating, but not fatal disease to assisted suicide. They assisted, but were foiled by the police. However, this encounter has given rise to a great deal of publicity about the Final Exit Network.

The Final Exit Network is similar to Jack Kevorkian's work. There really isn't much difference, except perhaps the Network is more organized. It also has more members. The Network can be compared to Dignitas in Switzerland.

We need to be aware of this organization and its' real goal, which is the legalization of physician assisted suicide.

Who is Father Jenkins

Will the real Father Jenkins please stand up. Father Jenkins' flamboyant and theatrical, passionate introduction of President Obama, certainly is in accord with recent developments, which show that the president of Notre Dame University, the same Father Jenkins, is on the Millennium Board of Directors. What is the Millennium Promise and what are it's goals?

1.) Eradicate extreme hunger and poverty.
2.) Achieve universal primary education.
3.) Promote gender equality and empower women.
4.) Reduce child mortality.
5.) Improve maternal health.
6.) Combat HIV, AIDS, Malaria and other diseases.
7.) Ensure environmental sustainability.
8.) Develop a global partnership for development.

The Millennium Promise works to raise funds from the private sector for Millennium Villages, a group working with underprivileged African villages. The Millennium Village handbook explains, that family  planning and contraception services are critical to allow women to choose family size and birth spacing, to combat sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV and contribute to the reduction of maternal morbidity and mortality. These services include, counseling, male and female condoms, pharmacological contraceptives, including oral, transdermal, intromuscular and implanted methods, and IUD's. They encourage safe abortions, in countrys where abortion is legal. The handbook further reads: "However, in instances, where no district center or alternate post for safe abortion practises is accessible, abortion services can be offered at the village level, provided that sufficient surgical capacity exists." I believe that could be interpretted as the witch doctor's tent.

If Notre Dame's Father Jenkins supports a program to reduce poverty by eliminating human beings, I think he's outside the teachings of the Church. No Catholic should take a leadership role contrary to Church teaching. Why is Father Jenkins still President of Notre Dame? I guess that's a question you'd have to ask the Holy Cross Order, to which Father Jenkins belongs. This order works extensively in Africa, and may have had some problems recently.

If you don't believe us, please visit the website of Millennium Promise where Father Jenkin's membership is published. Perhaps the next recipient of Internation Planned Parenthood's Award, following Hillary Clinton, will be Father Jenkins.  Watch the Planned Parenthood news.

Obamanation at Notre Dame

President Obama received an honorary law degree at Notre Dame on Sunday, May 17, 2009. Everyone in American by now knows that. But, here's the scoop, at least from my perspective.

As an Illinois State Senator, Obama voted for born-alive newborns to die in closets after a failed abortion. As a United States Senator, he voted to allow full term babies to be aborted at the moment of birth, (partial-birth abortion). And now, as President of the United States, he advocates the destruction of human life for the purpose of research (embryonic stem-cell).  With his executive order, the Mexico City Policy was revoked and abortion is funded throughout the world. In other words, President Obama is completely committed to the abortion movement. There will be no effort, either legislatively or executively, to reduce the number of abortions.

At Notre Dame Obama said, "honor the conscience of those who disagree with abortion, and draft a sensible conscience clause, and make sure that all of our health care policies are grounded in clear ethics and sound science as well as respect for the equality of women." Obama continued, "he plans to revise the "Conscience Clause" put in place at the end of the Bush presidency.

Linguistic gymnastics? Double speak? Deceived and uneducated? Wily? Tells a double tale? You bet!  One might ask, what is an embryo? What is a fetus? I know those answers are "above his pay grade", however, they are not above everybody else's pay grade. Other people know the truth and either abide by it, or not. It's called conscience.

Sound policies? How about recognizing a simple medical fact, that the embryo, no matter how created, remains a live human being. If they are not human beings, what are they? It's alive and growing. This is an old trick. All one has to do is take a category of living human beings and isolate them into a class .. ie the "unborn", "elderly", "Alzheimer", "embryo" and "fetus", "mentally handicapped". Once isolated, they can be dehumanized. Once dehumanized, they're free game for society's predators. Or in this case, an "Economic Savior".  Middle ground? I don't think there's any middle ground, when we're talking about killing. There was no middle ground in the Concentration Camps.

The proof of the pudding will come very shortly. If President Obama is serious about reducing the number of abortions, and working together to do so, he has a perfect opportunity. He is about to appoint a new Supreme Court Justice. He is about to publish the Conscience Clause for Healthcare Workers. He is about to issue guidelines for the NIH for embryonic stem-cell research. In everyday terms the ball's in his court.

Cuts in abstinence only sex ed and rise in number of unwed mothers

About 1.7 million babies were born to unmarried women in 2007.  Unmarried women accounted for almost 40% of all U.S. births in 2007, up from 34% in 2002.  Women in their 20's and 30's having babies has increased from 13% to 34% between 2002 and 2006.  These figures continue to show that "more of the same" comprehensive sex education is not working.  Teaching our children to respect themselves and others and to use self control in all areas of their lives is what they deserve to hear from parents and teachers.

Canada - Euthanasia

In Canada yesterday, Francine Lalonde introduced a private members bill to legalize euthanasia in Canada.  Ms Lalonde is the Bloc Quebecois Member of Parliament and this is her third attempt to legalize euthanasia.  Both previous bills were not limited to the direct and intentional killing of terminally ill persons, but also included people experiencing chronic physical and mental pain.

Previous bills were sold under the guise of choice and autonomy.  This particular bill appears to be identical to a previous bill and will be analyzed next week.

This bill is likely to receive a vote on second reading.  That soon.  Stay tuned.

Lisa Madigan

What way does the wind blow?  What's the most powerful seat?  Where does ideology have the best chance?  The answer, my friends, is blowing in the wind.  For those of you who are not Vietnam flower children, it was on old anti-war song of another generation.

Pundits have heard that perhaps Ms. Madigan is considering replacing Roland Burris.  That race will occur in 2010, and whoever challenges Burris, probably will win.

Lisa Madigan's polls show her ahead, whether she runs for governor, senate or Illinois Attorney General.  Stay tuned.

Obama's Budget

Before he was elected president, Barack Obama made it clear that he would cut abstinence funding.  True to his word, he has followed through with his promise.  His new budget eliminates all federal funding for abstinence only education and replaces it with sexual education.

The budget eliminates Title V Abstinence Education Programs, while calling for at least $164 million dollars for contraceptive only education.  This money includes competitive grants, research, evaluation and authorization for $50 million in new mandatory condom grants to states, tribes and territories.

Leslee Unruh, President of the Abstinence Clearing House, stated, "The Obama decision is a Hollywood failed old approach that only increases teen pregnancies and damages America's greatest resource, our children.  I believe there will be a political backlash for those who oppose these life saving abstinence programs.  The enemies of sexual integrity programs will feel the heat from the army of youth who have seen the light through these programs as they approach voting age."

I hope his health care reform package includes funding for the great rise in STD's and mental health problems that comprehensive sex education programs bring.

R U 486 R U Crazy

Melissa Strafford of the Boston Medical Center presented the following results of her study at the recent American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists annual meeting.  RU 486, the abortion drug, failed to complete the abortion process for 16% of the women getting the drug 48 hours apart, and 23% for the women getting 2 drugs simultaneously.

What!  RU 486 was supposed to be a miracle drug, at least a miracle killing drug.  Surgical abortions were supposed to be over.  These failure rates and the need for surgical abortion presents a big problem for women and an even bigger problem for the drug company.

The manufacturer and promoters of  RU 486 have told women that the abortifacient offers them a way to have an abortion without the risk of surgery.  Obviously, just like the lie, abortion is good for women, RU 486 promoters will have to think of something else.

Representative Ryg

Approximately 50 people held a peaceful demonstration for Life in front of Representative Ryg's office on May 9th 2009. No matter what side of the aisle you're on in abortion, her sponsorship of the Illinois Freedom of Choice Act, HB 2354. This bill is known under several names including "Reproductive Health and Access Act".

In spite of constituent pressure, including visits to her office, both in Springfield and Vernon Hills, Representative Ryg remained a co-sponsor. If passed, this bill would have done the following: 1.) Eliminated the conscience clause for hospitals and health care workers. 2.) It would have eliminated parental notice or consent. 3.) It would have mandated taxpayer funding of abortion. 4.) It would have allowed partial-birth abortion. 5.) It would have mandated a comprehensive state sex education program in public schools for all grades.  In other words, it would have removed any and all restrictions on abortion

Representative Ryg added insult to injury, when in a letter to her constituents, she cited Catholics for a Free Choice, as a reference for her decision to promote this radical bill.  Representative Ryg is a Catholic and knows Church teaching. Her sponsorship of this radical bill and her promise to her constituents in the following letter, which stated: "The supporters of HB 2354 met to review the Reproductive Healthcare Access Act. We agreed that additional clarifications are needed to reflect what the bill does and does not do. We agreed also, that the bill will not be called for a vote in its' present form. Your responses have helped me and my colleagues understand where the language is vague, leading to confusion, and/or misunderstanding. We do not wish to be misleading and will continue to monitor the discussions between the proponents and opponents as an amendment is prepared."

Representative Ryg needs to change her views. No matter what side of the aisle you're on, nobody but the most radical wanted this bill. Listen to your constituents.

Supreme Court

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg recently told law students, women justices bring life experiences that men can't. Really, Justice Ginsburg? What would those experiences be? Could it be that women can have babies, and men can't? Could it be, that adding a woman to the Supreme Court would help ensure that women's so called rights are protected? Could it be Justice Ginsburg, that you are subtly, or perhaps not so subtly, telling the president that a female appointee to the Supreme Court is needed, now, as never before?

Everyone knows, by now, that Justice David Souter is retiring from the Supreme Court at the end of this term. I suspect, Emily's List in the National Abortion Right League (NARAL) are working overtime to convince President Obama to appoint a pro-abortion female to the Supreme Court vacancy. In fact, Emily's List has a petition to, "urge President Obama to appoint a woman to the Supreme Court."

Justice Ginsburg says, the rights of women to protect and make decisions about their reproductive health are under constant attack. With our country - and our rights at stake, we urge President Obama to select a pro-choice woman.

It appears that only a pro-choice woman can interpret the Constitution and remain objective. I think otherwise. I think the Constitution needs to be interpreted without penumbras. After all, it was a penumbra that brought us Roe v Wade.

Broad Sexual Rights

In commemoration of the 15th anniversary of the International Conference on Population and Development (Cairo), the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) recently launched a new petition campaign that aims to pressure governments to promote, protect and fulfill their promise to provide better access to sexual and reproductive health services for all young people regardless of age.

The petition promotes the message Count Me In:  Sexual Rights For All.  IPPF does not really care about the health of youth.  They only care about money and exploitation.  It's true they will use their might to pressure governments to increase broad based comprehensive sex education programs, but it will not be because they are concerned about youth.  The results are clear to anyone who has eyes to see, governments will increase funding for diseases that have occurred from their endorsement of "free sex."

Just as they use linguistics to hide the fact that "reproductive health" is a buzz word for abortion on demand, IPPF will be using other buzz words to hide the real motive behind comprehensive sex education.  More to follow.

DC Taxpayer Funded Abortions

President Obama is pursuing a step by step strategy to expand access to abortion.  Article 1 of the US Constitution says that Congress holds complete legislative authority over the District of Columbia.  That is why the entire budget for D.C. including revenues generated by local sources, must be appropriated by Congress through an annual appropriations bill.

For many years, the D.C. Appropriations Bill has contained a provision to prevent the use of funds for abortions (except to save the life of the mother or in cases of rape and incest), the White House Budget released yesterday asks Congress to repeal the ban and replace it.

"If Congress goes along with the Obama proposal, the result will be tax funding of several thousand elected abortions annually.  Any member of Congress who votes for a bill that contains the White House budget proposal is, in reality, voting for tax funded abortions on demand with Congressional appropriated funds," stated Douglas Johnson, Legislative Director for National Right to Life.  He further stated, "the abortion industries own studies suggest that many thousands of residents in the nations capitol are alive today because the abortion funding ban that President Obama now proposes to repeal.  Today's White House action is one more evidence that President Obama is trying to pull off a massive policy scam - He generates a smoke screen of soothing rhetoric about seeking common ground and abortion reduction, while step by step advancing concrete policies that will substantially increase the number of abortions - and pay for abortion on demand with everyone's tax dollar."

Barack Obama met with Planned Parenthood in 21007 and promised that mandatory abortion coverage would be "at the center, the heart of" his health care reform legislation.

National Institute of Health

On March 9th, 2009, President Obama issued Executive Order 13505.  This order stated that the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, through the Director of NIH may support and conduct reasonable, scientifically worthy human stem cell research, including human embryonic stem cell research to the extent permitted by law.  The purpose of the NIH guidelines is to implement the Executive Order as it pertains to NIH funding.  NIH funding folks is taxpayer dollar.  This is why the outcry.

The public has until May 26th to comment on the draft guidelines from the National Institute of Health for human stem cell research.  We had better comment on them.  Earlier legislation limited federally funded embryonic research only to frozen embryos conceived through in-vitro fertilization (IVF) that the parents did not want.

The proposed NIH guidelines go much further than previous legislation.  The new guidelines would not restrict research to frozen discarded embryos, but would offer IVF parents the option to donate immediately their newly created embryos for destructive research.

Why are we opposed?  We are opposed because embryos are human beings.  Embryonic stem cell research is no different than the Nazi research on human beings.  It treats innocent human life in a totally utilitarian way.  "In Germany they came for the Communists, and I didn't speak up because, I wasn't a Communist.  Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.  Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Trade Unionist.  Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant.  Then they came for me...and by that time there was no on left to speak up."  Pastor Martin Neimoller

The Pope Is Right

During his recent visit to Africa, Pope Benedict XVI, stated that condoms might be part of the problem, rather than the solution to the AIDS crisis. The Harvard Center for Population and Development studies noted: "There seems to be no evidence from sub-Saharan Africa, certainly not in the five countries of present focus, that condom behavior alone can reverse the course of an HIV epidemic."  The document further adds: "If primary behavior change, along with condom use, is essential for national level decrease in HIV infection rates, then the question of how these behaviors are successfully promoted becomes very important. Especially since there has been relatively little promotion of primary behavior change."

Present day Papal visit to Africa, Dr. Green, a liberal, stated: "The criticism of the pope on the use of condoms to prevent HIV infection is unfair, because the best evidence we have support his comments." Dr. Green also stated that studies show that HIV rates tend to go up, not down, where condoms are readily available.

Children's Author Judy Blume

Imagine my surprise to find out Judy Blume, no stranger to controversy, has lent her name for solicitation of donations for Planned Parenthood, (PP). PP is the nation's largest abortion provider. And for Mother's Day, a double disaster.

Judy Blume celebrating Mother's Day, by encouraging her public (which includes a large number of teenage girls through grandmothers) to send a donation to the pro-abortion group to honor mothers.  Judy said: "Say thanks this Mother's Day, with a gift that honors her courage by making a donation to Planned Parenthood in her name. I guarantee you she'll be pleased. I know I would be. There is no organization that I know of that supports motherhood and all that it means, more than Planned Parenthood. That's why I'm honoring moms everywhere with my gift to Planned Parenthood today."

Blume notes, more women are seeking abortions from Planned Parenthood, because of the difficult economic times we live in.

Motherhood has never equaled killing your baby. Perhaps since Judy Blume has made her fortune from young people, who enjoy her books, she might be more sensitive to life. Perhaps she does not realize the consequences that killing your unborn baby have on young girls and women. If she was a real advocate for motherhood, since she's made her livelihood by writing about it, she would be sending donations to and encouraging the same for life affirming organizations.

Actually, Mother's Day donations to Planned Parenthood, are almost equivelent to sending the Nazi Party a donation in honor of Jewish Holidays.

Abstinence Education Evidence of Success

Abstinence education backers presented evidence of success to Capitol Hill last week, telling success stories of abstinence programs to lawmakers. On April 29, leading experts presented evidence, that we all know to be true, this evidence showed abstinence education works best for young people. Forty national studies demonstrated the effectiveness only education for students. Doctor Stan Weed, a nationally known researcher, presented evidence, which debunks the myths about abstinence education and showed that abstinence programs actually out perform comprehensive sex education programs.

This is evidence we all know is true. The results over the years have convinced most people that abstinence only education produces positive results. Comprehensive sex based education, for the most part, is tax-payer funded and has abysmal results. However, they fund beaurocrats. They're not in the best interest of teens.

Now Human Organs Growing In Animals

I hope not in swine! If so, I hope the swine flu has skipped Japan. On a more serious note, scientist in Japan are claiming new breakthroughs in growing human organs in animals. Why you ask? Researchers are trying to solve the shortage of organs for transplant. They haven't really accomplished their goal yet. They haven't grown human organs yet in animals. But they feel they've taken the first step. They have succeeded in growing monkey organs in sheep, using stem cells. Within a decade, they hope to move from locating a spare monkey pancreas, in the wool of a sheep, to producing human organs. The pancreas, in this case, was generated from monkey stem cells, and the researcher, Hanazono says: "Walking organ banks for human livers, hearts, pancreas, and skins, he believes the sheep would provide."

Professor Hanazono told the London Times, "There has historically been work on the potential of sheep as producers of human blood, but we are only slowly coming closer to the point where we can harvest sheep for human organs."

Brave New world? Next on the menu will be Hagus, a favorite Scottish meal of sheep stomach stuffed with barley. But, will it be a sheep, or a human stomach?

The National of Prayer

On May 7th, 2009, our nation marks the 58th year for the Annual Day of Prayer (NDP). This event is for Americans of all faiths to come together to pray for our nation and it's leaders. The NDP was established by an Act of Congress in 1952 by President Truman. Days of Prayer have been called as early as 1775, with the first Continental Congress and continued throughout our nation's history until President Truman designated the first Thursday in May as the official National Day of Prayer. The NDP belongs to all Americans. It is not a political event. Since 1988, every president has been encouraging Americans to participate in the National Day of Prayer.

The National Day of Prayer was created by an Act of Congress, and is therefore intended for all. President Truman established, with and Act of Congress, the first Thursday in May, as the official annual National Day of Prayer. The NDP prays for our legislators, military, media, families, churches and educators.

This year, the Obama administration has issued a media release, that there will be no White House observance, or participation, for the National Day of Prayer. However, the White House has indicated it will release a proclamation recognizing the NDP.

The National Day of Prayer Task Force, has issued the following statement: "While there will be tens of thousands of prayer gatherings throughout the nation on May 7th, the Obama administration announced, there will not be a White House observance for the National Day of Prayer this year, contrary to the administrations of Presidents George W. Bush, President George H. W. Bush, and President Ronald Reagan. A White House Observance was not held during the administration of President Bill Clinton."

It has been announced, the White House will release some kind of proclamation, recognizing the National Day of Prayer, but apparently it will not be made available until Thursday, May 7, which makes it too late for organizations to distribute.

We must pray especially for our president and our nation at this time. That's what we're called to do. However, we must recognize that there may be more to the administration's non-involvement than meets the eye.

What Will Obama Do?

Reports are circulating that Supreme Court Justice David Souter has informed the White House he will retire effective at the close of this session.  A loss to the pro-life movement - no.  Justice Souter is one of the most pro-abortion members of the United States Supreme Court.  A few cases to mention - He voted to uphold abortion on demand and to strike down any common sense regulations that most Americans support.

In 2002, and in again in 2007, he voted to strike down any prohibitions on the barbaric practice of partial-birth abortion.  Most decisions on abortion have been 5 to 4 lately, so his presence on the Court has extended the tragedy of abortion.

Now it's Obama's turn.  Will he select a Justice who believes social activism outweighs the Constitution?  President Obama has expressed a public commitment for reducing abortions, but has surrounded himself with a Cabinet and appointments to key governmental posts who actively support and promote abortion on demand.

With the retirement of David Souter the ball is in the Senate.  The Senate must confirm any presidential appointment to the Court.  The question one must ask the senators is will they uphold their duty to question a nominee on their judicial philosophy?
