When Fr. Paul Marx, founder of Human Life International was asked what he felt would be the effects of "same-sex unions" , he answered, "When they do that, it's the end". He was specifically referring to the end of Judeo-Christian civilization, whose values have always formed the basis of American common life. Judeo-Christian civilization has been the basis of modern Western society for 2000 years now. If this civilization falls, all civilization falls with it. The institution of marriage has been one of the most fundamental foundations of that civilization. When we try to change the substance of any foundation, we naturally weaken it.
In 2009, 52% of Californians voted to endorse Proposition 8, which ratified the constitutional protection of marriage, as being between a man and a woman. Do you really think Judeo-Christian civilization is this fragile? That the actions of a few homosexual couples will hurt it?
If Judeo-Christian civilization is falling, it is because of the huge number of kids raised without a father. Whether their parents divorced, or had never been married, it doesn't matter. That is the important issue, the one that will affect the next generation.
Dear Ori, No disagreement about the role of fathers. However, sexular humanism has collided with a Judeo-Christian society. Collective morality prevails. We are not saying that Judeo-Christianity is not a fragile thing, but that the people who profess to be Judeo-Christians, have dropped the ball.
