Revealed: Warren Buffett’s foundation funded anti-HB 2 “study” to tune of $4.5M

The Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation has been exposed as the source of funding behind a debunked study which has given rise to the bogus conclusion that House Bill 2, the Pro-Life Omnibus Bill of the 2013 Legislative Session, has been responsible for an uptick in self-induced abortions among Texas women. Not only does zero evidence of such an uptick exist, but the study flatly failed to demonstrate that HB 2 would have contributed to an increase in abortion self-inductions at all.
A public information request reveals that anti-Life activist and billionaire Warren Buffett is bankrolling activists seeking to cast HB 2 in a negative light – even if their research amounts to largely second hand, unscientific speculation. The Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation is the vehicle by which Buffett manages his charitable giving. The Foundation donates hundreds of millions per annum, with tens of millions going to abortion groups including Planned Parenthood. In fact, Buffett gave over a billion dollars to abortion-affiliated groups in the span of a decade.
Buffett granted the Texas Policy Evaluation Project (TxPEP) with $4,578,658 to conduct interviews with a small pool of women who claim that they or their “best friend” have undergone self-induced abortions… at some point in their life, in an undisclosed state or country. The Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation gave two grants, at $1,911,797 and 2,666,861, respectively. The information collected was based on hearsay (which would never be admissible in a court of law). Furthermore, key questions were omitted , without which, the group’s conclusion about the abortion self-induction – HB 2 link is utterly meaningless.
‘All are lives, as Williams concludes, “worth sacrificing.”
I’m not sure if she actually believes this, but maybe she does. Williams draws attention to an op-ed by Emma Maniere (“Why I’m Pro-Choice”) which Williams is convinced turns the tables on pro-lifers. Maniere wrote, “Some argue that abortion takes lives, but I know that abortion saves lives, too.”
Is she talking about those rare life of mother situations? Of course not. Maniere and Williams are using the imagery figuratively, not in “the most medically literal way.” Abortion as life-saver refers to “the roads that women who have choice then get to go down, in the possibilities for them and for their families.”
If I told you pro-abortionists could be this hard-hearted, this cavalier, this ruthlessly it’s-all-about-me, some would say I was indulging in hyperbole times ten. In a polite way, some would suggest I was making it up.
Problem is you just can’t make this stuff up. Not if you are a morally sentient human being with even the most minimal sense of justice.
