Theme for March

March for Life’s 2016 theme: Pro-life and pro-woman go together

(Via Red Alert Politics) – The 2016 March for Life’s theme has been revealed: “Pro-Life and Pro-Woman Go Hand in Hand.” Roll Call reported on the theme Tuesday afternoon.
If it seems that the group is seeking for a political take, that’s because they are.

The bulk of Roll Call’s reporting entailed an event planned for Wednesday afternoon for Congressional staffers to discuss the upcoming March for Life and its theme:
Staffers will learn tips to help their bosses “counter the false narrative of, ‘being pro-life means you’re anti-woman,’” [Tom] McClusky [of March for Life] said, adding that he expects a “war on women” narrative to resurface as the presidential race gains speed.
While the theme may be political, it is not partisan. Roll Call described Wednesday’s event as being “geared toward Hill staffers who oppose abortion from either side of the aisle…”

Last year’s theme of “Every Life is a Gift,” was more cultural than political. The 2015 March for Life also did not occur during a major election year, however.
The March for Life has been held each January since 1974 in hopes to repeal the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court decisions of Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton. Reporting from January 2015 estimates that there have been over 57 million abortions since the decisions.
The upcoming March for Life will occur on Friday, January 22, 2016.
