Carly

A chance to meet (and thank) Carly Fiorina

Did you ever dream that you could sit down with a historic figure and ask any question you wanted?
I had such an opportunity, when I joined a small group for a face-to-face meeting with former Presidential candidate Carly Fiorina in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Carly is definitely a historic figure because of her run for the White House. Her debate performances are now the stuff of legends and, along with Sarah Palin, she is one of the most prominent pro-life women in America.

I thanked Carly for what she had done for the pro-life movement. After all, she had the guts and boldness to go on national television and tell the truth about the abortion giant Planned Parenthood. Not exactly the kind of speech that would endear her to the mavens of the media world.
Carly surprised me by noting that I had offered my thanks in the past tense. In other words, she has no intention of stopping her public pronouncements on behalf of innocent human life.
At one point in the gathering, I noted how the former Hewlett Packard CEO has served as a tremendous role model for young women. Laughter erupted when I said that she had “cleaned the guys’ clocks” in the GOP Presidential debates.

Then, I asked her what advice she would give to young conservative women who were interested in public service—since conservative women seem to be held to a different standard than liberal women.

Carly recognized the double standard, and indicated that young women need to be prepared for their entrance into politics. She also said during the discussion that we need our leaders to be fighters—just like she is.

She also made the prophetic comment that, with this year’s Presidential contest, the U.S. Supreme Court hangs in the balance.

While Carly has ended her run for the Rose Garden, she continues to play an active role in politics, serving as a surrogate for pro-life GOP Presidential candidate Ted Cruz. She brings the same passion to his campaign that she did for her own.
