How a baby melted the heart of an enemy

On Monday we reported how a leader of a notorious anti-life group has now rejected abortion. Today we explore Sara Geromin’s amazing story in more detail.
In 2012 Sara Winter (real name Sara Geromin) was one of the founders of the Brazilian branch of FEMEN, a radical feminist group which has staged highly offensive protests around the world in support of abortion and other anti-life practices.

These protests have often involved groups of topless women invading churches or religious events, with pro-abortion and other offensive slogans written across their chests. Some of the protests have included violence and are designed to cause maximum outrage to ordinary church-goers.
Sara herself had an abortion using a drug provided by another feminist. She almost bled to death and suffered severe complications. She remained in feminist activism for several years, but last year she participated in something radical of a different kind – she gave birth for the first time. And it was that birth which melted a heart which had grown cold towards babies in the womb.

“My life has taken on new meaning”, she said. “I’m writing this while [my baby boy] sleeps serenely on my lap. It is the greatest sensation in the world.”

“What I was missing was love (which changed when I became a mother), love that came to me after having reflected a lot on today’s militant feminism.”

She admitted: “I never knew that all that talk about legalizing abortion in Brazil had been the work of organizations controlled by tycoons, rich men interested in reducing my country’s population.”
“I regret having an abortion and today I’m asking for forgiveness … I don’t want [others] to go through the same thing I did … [F]eminism should be focusing more on taking care of women instead of putting their lives at risk”, Sara insisted.

Sara herself feels at risk but in a different way. “You have no idea of the reprisals I’ve been a victim of coming from the feminists,” she wrote. “I’m afraid of even stepping out on to the street with my baby”.

But Sara is not backing down. Sales of her book exposing the horrific behaviour of FEMEN and similar groups are being used to help fund “initiatives helping women in violent situations and against abortion.”

Wonderfully Sara says: “Today I’m much happier and I’m able to help women more.”
Sara’s story is reminiscent of the stories of former abortion doctors and abortion centre staff who saw the light amidst the darkness of the abortion industry. Dr Bernard Nathanson, and Norma McCorvey (the ‘Roe’ in Roe v Wade)are all testimony to the inherent ability of the human conscience to recover even from deep complicity in the worst of criminal enterprises.
And it is truly marvellous that – in Sara’s case and others – it is children themselves who have saved adults from the culture of death.
