More Lies from PP

Cecile Richards Planned Parenthood 2015 testifies COngress

Abortion survivors don’t exist, according to Planned Parenthood

Once again, Planned Parenthood has refused to say that a baby born alive after an abortion should receive lifesaving medical care.
In Congressional testimony Tuesday under oath, Planned Parenthood’s president Cecile Richards responded to a question on whether she would approve of giving medical care to a child who survives an abortion attempt by claiming she has never heard of a child actually surviving. In addition, she claimed that this wouldn’t even be possible at Planned Parenthood because their facilities do not do abortions past viability.
“I’ve never heard of such a circumstance happening,” Richards, who makes half a million dollars annually as head of the abortion giant, stated.
Really? I have.
Live Action has exposed the infanticide of babies who survive abortion. And more recently, abortion survivors Gianna Jessen and Melissa Ohden testified before Congress, recounting how they were born alive after their mothers had failed saline infusion abortions.
I have also personally documented several cases where babies survived abortions and were born alive. It is not an uncommon phenomenon inside the abortion industry, which refers to these cases as “the dreaded complication.”
This issue was made more public when the Philadelphia Inquirer did an entire exposé on the topic some years back.
A quick Google news search turns up the story of a Stanford University doctor who reported that his hospital saw cases in which babies survived abortions. That same article quotes a 1974 study estimating that 200 live births from abortions occurred annually in the United States at that time.
Live Fetus abortionIn 1989, two babies, one 26 weeks old and one 24 weeks, aborted at the University of Wisconsin Hospital, were reported to have survived their abortions – but died hours later.
In 1999 – ten years later – nurse Jill Stanek discovered that her labor and delivery unit at a suburban Chicago hospital was allowing babies born alive after induced labor abortions to die in soiled utility closets.
And in 2013, Alisa LaPolt Snow, a lobbyist for Florida Alliance of Planned Parenthood Affiliates testified before the Florida House of Representatives that Planned Parenthood objected to a law requiring abortionists to transfer babies to hospitals if born alive after an abortion. The video went viral because of the cold-hearted nature of Snow’s comments:
We believe any decision that’s made should be up to the-the woman, her family and the physician…That decision should be between the patient and the healthcare provider.
Before Congress, Cecile Richards mentioned that Planned Parenthood doesn’t “provide abortions after viability.” Despite her insistence, a recent Live Action News story details how Planned Parenthood officials revealed, on undercover video, that they were expecting their late-term abortion numbers to increase.
Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s Senior Medical Director, Dr. Deborah Nucatola, was filmed saying that although there are independent abortion clinics performing abortions to 26 weeks, Planned Parenthood (which she stated did not perform abortions that far “yet”) also wanted make sure the industry generally aborts babies “to the legal limit”:
There’s a lot of conversation about who goes to the legal limit in their state; if they don’t go to the legal limit in their state why don’t they? Is there another provider that does? So we’re about to start doing some mapping work to say, you know, are there states where nobody’s going to the legal limit? And if not, why not, and what can we do about that?
Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards once said that she believes life begins at delivery, a statement which might explain why she hedged when asked a second time by a member of Congress she believed medical care should be administered when a live abortion occurs. Once again, she refused to say “yes.”
Yet another reason the abortion giant should be defunded immediately.
