Planned Parenthood announces Ladies Choice Awards as abortion movement fails

Rather than release articles or lists recapping the year of 2013 for the abortion movement, Planned Parenthood plans to recap the year with its newly-coined “Ladies Choice Awards.” Winners will be announced over the next few weeks, culminating with the last announcement (“Boundary Breaker”) on New Year’s Eve. The announcement stated:

We write these pieces every year, and we got to thinking… wouldn’t it be more fun, in service of remembering the good, the bad, and the simply absurd, if we made them awards?

It might be more fun to recap 2013 this way, and apparently ”fun” is the only thing that will cheer up a failing pro-abortion movement at this point in American history. Abortion rights groups supposedly advocate for women of reproductive age — specifically the highly-targeted abortion demographic of ages 18 to 24. However, their failure to rally this age group may account for much of the failure of the pro-abortion movement to expand abortion access and influence public opinion in recent years.
NARAL Pro-Choice America’s former president Nancy Keenan picked up on the failure of so-called feminist organizations to attract the younger generation several years ago when she saw the masses of young pro-lifers gathered to defend life at the March for Life in Washington, DC. She recalls arriving at the event and being shocked by the sheer numbers of the pro-life generation:

I just thought, my gosh, they are so young. There are so many of them, and they are so young.

Youth who take a stand on abortion overwhelmingly side with the pro-life view. For example, Students for Life of America — the nation’s most active pro-life youth organization — hosts an annual sold out conference every January which draws more than 2,000 participants. Abortion advocates have nothing of the kind– they would be unable to rally thousands of committed young abortion rights advocates to take off time from work and school to congregate in freezing  DC conditions for rallies, marches, and conferences supporting their cause.

Pro-abortion attempts to rally the youth to their side in recent years have been flat-out failures. Most recently, several abortion-rights organizations banded together and proclaimed that pro-abortion student groups across the nation would be speaking out against pro-life pregnancy centers in a historic “Week of Action.” The effort was a total flop, however — not one student group seems to have shared the “progressive” desire to “expose” the  supposed malice behind the charity and good will of pregnancy centers in America.

Pro-abortion RH Reality Check compiled a list of pro-choice “successes” in 2013, and they reveal that the abortion-rights community now considers showing up to oppose pro-life measures (Texas; North Carolina; Albuquerque) and “at least temporarily legal wins” as pro-choice “successes.” Never mind that the pro-life community is writing and passing pro-life legislation in state after state — and rather than expanding abortion access (except in California — where expansion is actually
detrimental to women’s health) — it’s all the pro-abortion community can do to keep up with the pro-life measures that are taking over America on the state level. Even in states (like New Mexico) where pro-life measures were ultimately unsuccessful, the pro-abortion community showed up to oppose measures that we instigated, rather than vice versa.
