Selling Obama Health Care to Seniors at Taxpayer Expense

The press calls it Obamacare. The legislation, that was passed by Congress, is a Bill that all Americans, not only have to pay for, but probably are stuck with for the rest of their lives. There were many reasons to oppose this bill. Lake County Right to Life opposed it on the Life issues. These issues include, but are not limited to, taxpayer funding of abortion, and rationing.

Seniors are at great risk for rationing. In fact senior care will be rationed. Now Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, has sent millions of senior Americans, a brochure with false claims about the newly passed health care legislation. In this brochure, there are many facts about health care, that are questionable.

First, the brochure claims under the new law, "the guaranteed Medicare benefits you currently receive, will remain the same."  But, experts have reported earlier this year, that the new law cuts in Medicare spending, may push as many as 15% of hospitals and other institutional providers into the red. "Possibly jeopardizing access," to needed care for millions of seniors. That's rationing folks. Denying treatment or access to treatment, that's rationing.  Actually, there is no way that current Medicare benefits will remain the same, if one out of every 7 medical providers are no longer profitable.

Second, the brochure claims the new law includes, "improvements to Medicare Advantage." But says nothing about the fact, that the new law includes at least, 130 billion dollars in spending cuts.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, has sent HHS Secretary Sebelius a letter, demanding explanation of the falsehoods in the brochure. This brochure is named "Medicare and the New Health Care Law - what it means for you." It was published by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, a division of HHS. This brochure was on your tax dollar.

Do you think Secretary of HHS Sebelius will respond?
