The Rest of the Story

The World Health Organization (WHO) the World Bank and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) have teemed up to push a new strategy, that would benefit their pro-abortion agenda. Here we go. They say third world countries must have safe abortions. To take it a step further, they say, the only way to make abortion safe is to make abortion legal in nations, where unborn babies are currently protected by law. Many of these countries defend unborn life on religious principles and beliefs.

These pro-abortion organizations also believe, that legal abortion, is essential to lower maternal mortality (reduce number of deaths of mothers per 100,00 births). The Obama administration, and many in the US government, are echoing this sentiment. To quote Hillary Clinton, "You cannot have maternal health without reproductive health." Then, as if to remove all doubt of what she meant, Secretary Clinton added, "and reproductive health includes contraception, and family planning and access to legal abortion."

Perhaps these organizations should have researched the facts. There is a considerable body of evidence, from around the world, that permissive abortion laws result in a higher maternal mortality rate, rather than a lower one.

If you need proof, the country of Mauritius, has the lowest maternal mortality rate of the African nations. Yet, it has some of the continent's most protective laws, regarding the unborn. Interesting. Look at a contrast. Ethopia has permissive abortion laws, and a maternal mortality rate 48 times greater than Mauritius.

Look at countries in South America. Chile protects unborn children and has the lowest maternal mortality rate. In contrast, Guyana allows abortion on demand, and has a mortality rate 30 times higher than Chile.

Want more proof? Southeast Asia, Nepal has no restriction on abortion, and has the highest rate of maternal mortality. Siri Lanka has the lowest maternal mortality rate in the world, and the most protective laws for unborn in the world.

Worldwide, Ireland protects it's unborn children, and has the lowest maternal mortality rate of all. Ironically, in contrast, three of the richest and most advanced nations on earth, the United States, Norway and Canada, show an increase in maternal mortality, and have the most liberal abortion laws.

Dr. Donna Harrison, a diplomat for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the president of the American Academy of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, believes the key to reducing maternal mortality, isn't abortion, but prenatal care, better skilled birth attendants and antibiotics. Legal abortion, Dr. Harrison points out, actually increases a woman's chance of experiencing hemorrhage, infection and damage to her reproductive organs. Chemical abortion, or RU486, are most risky for women, because of an 8 fold increased risk of bleeding, 5 times higher chance of an incomplete abortion, thus twice the risk of having to rely on the surgical abortion as a back up. Ironically, chemical abortions are being widely promoted by pro-abortion organizations, that stress the need for abortion to reduce maternal mortality.

Here are the facts. Who in the world would believe, that reducing maternal mortality, is achieved by killing unborn babies?
