“Shilling for Barbarism”: Kirsten Powers on Democrats who defend what’s shown on the PPFA Videos

By Dave Andrusko
Dr-Nucatola-week-after-imgTo most Americans, Kirsten Powers is known for her appearances on Fox News. Some know of her books (her latest is a scorcher), and fewer still know of her absolutely pivotal role in the coverage of the murder trial of abortionist Kermit Gosnell.

In a sentence, Powers shamed her colleagues into at least paying some attention to one of the most sensational murder trials of the past decade. Gosnell is now serving three consecutive life sentences for the deaths of three huge babies whom he aborted alive and then murdered by slitting their spinal cords.

You’ll remember the selective outrage of the Abortion Industry, including Planned Parenthood. Were they left speechless with indignation by the huge numbers of viable babies Gosnell aborted (aside from the three he was convicted of murdering)? Of course not.
They were annoyed they would be tarred with the same brush. They weren’t murderers.
Planned Parenthood et al. told us they were just as angry as we were at the scandalous behavior of this “outlier,” this “renegade” whose personal chamber of horrors the Philadelphia District Attorney called a “House of Horrors.”

But what to do with “ Democrats on wrong side of history when it comes to Planned Parenthood’s crimes against innocent unborn,” Powers’ column that appears in today’s USA Today.
Planned Parenthood and its allies can’t pretend the subjects of the Center for Medical Progress’s five undercover videos are “outliers.” They are high mucky mucks, occupying pivotal places in the hierarchy of Planned Parenthood.
What they talk about makes the House of Horrors look like the Mayo Clinic.
Gosnell joked about aborting a baby so large it “ was big enough to walk home.”
How different is that from what Dr. Deborah Nucatola, senior director for medical services for the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, said? I have multiple options to choose from. Here’s one.
After nonchalantly extolling PPFA for its adeptness at “crushing”–“you try to intentionally go above and below the thorax, so that, you know, we’ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because we know that, so I’m not gonna crush that part, I’m gonna basically crush below, I’m gonna crush above, and I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact–“ Dr. Nucatola is shown on the hidden camera video saying
And with the calvarium [the skull], in general, some people will actually try to change the presentation so that it’s not vertex [head first], because when it’s vertex presentation you never have enough dilation at the beginning of the case, unless you have real, huge amounts of dilation to deliver an intact calvarium.

To call Gosnell’s Women’s Medical Clinic a pig sty is to do a disservice to pigs. The filth, the urine, the feces is enough to make you retch. But what about the moaning, over-medicated women, who lay in caked blood next to dead and dying cats?

Of course, we don’t read about (or see) that in the undercover PPFA videos. Would Dr. Nucatola eat her lunch (as Gosnell did) as the police raided his abortion clinic? No, of course not.
She eats salads and sips red wine not next to unimaginable filth but in a tony restaurant. And I’m sure her abortion clinic is, by comparison, the model of cleanliness.
What we see, instead, are legs and a long bone and a mass of baby body parts. What we hear in one PPFA laboratory is talk about kidneys and lungs and livers and eyes (”orbits”) and intestines and calvarium (skulls) and brains and trachea.

Isn’t PPFA so much nicer than the bad old “renegade” Kermit Gosnell?
Powers is astonished by her party–the Democratic party–who never, ever fail to lecture us that they are the “right side of history.” Yet

[W]hen faced with a series of videos detailing grotesque human rights abuses against unborn children by Planned Parenthood Federation of America doctors, Democratic Party forces have eschewed all concern for historical or moral rightness.
Powers’ column is a must read. Let me conclude with her powerful indictment. (“Dr. Ginde” is Dr. Savita Ginde the vice president and medical director of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains.)
Following the meeting with Dr. Ginde, the undercover video makers are taken to a Planned Parenthood pathology lab where a medical assistant called “Jess” picks at an aborted fetus. “ I just want to see another leg, with a foot,” she says. Ginde chimes in: “Here’s the heart.” At one point Dr. Ginde inexplicably murmurs: “It’s a baby.”
Even the abortionist can see it’s a baby. So what’s wrong with the Democratic Party?
