Call Your Represenative- Defend Marriage

   'Defend Marriage'Lobby Day in Illinois

                   There's Still Time
                               To
               Make Your Voice Heard

Today being Lobby Day for Defending Marriage - thousands of Illinois citizens will be in Springfield, lobbying their representatives. If you were unable to make a trip to Springfield, please know that you can still lobby your representatives either in person (at their local office) or by phone.

Shortly after the new Illinois General Assembly was sworn in on January 9th, State Representative Greg Harris (D-Chicago) and State Senator Heather Stearns (D-Chicago) introduced their marriage redefinition bills which will legalize homosexual marriages, deceptively titled, "The Religious Freedom and Marriage Fairness Act."

High profile politicians, television stars and the media are rallying in favor of the redefinition of marriage. So it is imperative that those of us, who stand for defending traditional marriage, have our voices heard!

    Contact Your State Representative
                            And
Urge them to Vote NO on HB110

If you would like some points to base your arguments on - here are some very pertinent questions to pose to your lawmaker, from the Illinois Family Institute:

1.)   What is marriage? What are the inherent, fundamental constituent features of marriage?
2.)     Supporters of this bill claim that marriage has no inherent connection to gender, sexual complementarity, or reproductive potential. If marriage has no inherent connection to gender, sexual complementarity or reproductive potential, why are you limiting it to two people?
3.)      Marriage revisionists claim that the sole defining feature of marriage is love. They claim that marriage is solely about "who loves whom." If that's so, why is the government involved? Does the government have a vested interest in affirming the love of those in an inherently non-reproductive type of relationship?
4.)      Do children have an inherent right to a mother and a father?
5.)      Since many claim that access to marriage is a "civil right," could you tell me what civil rights are? Is access to civil rights guaranteed to couples or to individuals?
6.)      Are polyamorists and bisexuals denied their civil rights and are they being treated unequally since they cannot marry the persons they love?
7.)      Since marriage revisionists assert that the prohibition of "same-sex marriage" is analogous to the prohibition of interracial marriage, could you tell me in what specific ways homosexual unions are analogous to interracial unions?
8.)      In educating yourself on this issue that will radically alter marriage and culture, can you tell me specifically what you've read about marriage, including what marriage is, and how the legalization of "same-sex marriage" would affect the culture?

Compel your lawmaker to defend his or her vote with actual reasons rather than superficial sound bites - and persist until they answer.

Two years ago 4,000 homeschooling parents rallied in Springfield to protest a proposed law that would have required them to register their children with the state.

      Just this past Valentine's Day,
         Senator Pamela Althoff,
from the 32nd District in the Illinois General Assembly, changed her position from voting in favor of the same-sex marriage bill, to voting against it - due to, "her constituents overwhelmingly lobbying her via phone calls, emails etc. to vote against the Bill.

This proves we do have the power to influence our representatives.

But, if we say and do nothing, we will have no right to complain afterward.

The Catholic Church teaches "Marriage is a Sacrament" - The "Sacrament of Matrimony" the Latin interpretation of matrimony simply means "to make a mother". This definitely, underscores a purpose to marriage, which goes far beyond the simple union of any two people for their own feelings or designs.

In other words - Marriage - Matrimony - is all about mankind's cooperation with His Creator in the act of Creation - an act which can only take place between the different complimentary sexes. Two men can certainly not share their DNA to create a new life - nor can two women share DNA with each other in order to engender new life.   In both cases, DNA must be borrowed ... ie ... purchased from others in order to produce children for their same-sex union. This has led to turning our human DNA into a commodity, rather than the GIFT of LIFE, with which God blessed us.

Same-sex (so called) marriage certainly ignores this - as well as the welfare of children. It's all about their own wants - and they want you and I to accommodate those wants.
