Teachers & Abortion

The National Education Association (NEA) will hold their National Convention July 1st through the 6th. Jeralee Smith, co-founders of the NEA Conservative Educators Caucus, says, "One of the items her group has placed on the agenda, is abortion. The union contributes to candidates, who will maintain the current Roe v Wade decision, and make sure the abortion industry is alive and well. Supposedly, this is done with the portion of Union dues that is optional, but a lot of times we found sneaky ways, that the Union supports things that we don't believe in."

A secret ballot vote has been slated for the meeting, in which members will have an opportunity to vote that the Union takes a "no position" stance on abortion.

Isn't that what they're supposed to be doing? Abortion shouldn't be taught in the schools. And Union dues should not go to support only pro-abortion candidates. God save the children.

Euthanasia, Obama Healthcare Plan?

ABC News probably forgot it's ABC's, because the coverage on the Obama Healthcare Plan was a debacle, a set up, a rouse for the American public.  But, what else is new? Keep the American people in the dark and hope for the best. That's ABC's philosophy.

President Obama suggested, one way to curtail medical costs, is to stop expensive and ultimately futile procedures being performed on people who are about to die. Unlike the Roman Gladiators, in the blood stained arena, who stated, "We are about to die salute you",  I don't think the sick and elderly will be saluting Obama.  In addition, Obama said, "Maybe you're better off not having the surgery, but taking a pain killer." Michael Jackson was obviously ahead of Obama on that one.

I think President Obama forgot to talk to patients and patient's families. Who makes the decisions about surgery? If the Obama Healthcare Plan goes through, it's a sure thing it won't be your doctor or your family and certainly not you. It will be the Obama Gate Keepers of Medical Care. What care? What care is extra? And who decides?  Hello America!  This is called rationing.

President Obama is willing to interfere in the relationship between a doctor and his patient, when the doctor is trying to save a life, but not, when the doctor is trying to take a life. Evolving healthcare, that's very interesting. How does healthcare evolve? I always thought healthcare benefited a patient. Everyone knows that sometimes not doing something is better than doing something and conversely, doing something is better than not doing something. It's left to families and doctors to discuss, not to mention the patient, who should be fully involved.  Not gatekeepers, who have no knowledge of medicine.

If you think the government can run healthcare, look at the VA system.

A Dollar A Day

Whatever happened to faith based programs?  Can you imagine paying a dollar a day to keep a baby away?  There is a program in North Carolina that pays girls from the ages of 12 to 18 not to have babies.  What!  A dollar a day!  Certainly this cheapens life.  This point of view differs from faith based programs which promotes a healthy lifestyle by elevating the good choices young people are capable of making.  Faith based programs keep our youth healthy and this leads to a healthy culture.

I wonder if birth control is involved in this program.  I wonder if anyone in the program will ever know the damage that can occur to young women's bodies, not to mention the abortifacient side effects of most birth control pills.

I wonder what this will do when the young lady meets the young man she will marry.

There are a lot more reasons I would be concerned about a Dollar A Day program.

Late term abortion

If you believe that good can come out of evil, then the information on late term abortion which has come to light recently would be an example.  Following the killing of Dr. Tiller in May and the subsequent announcement of the closing of the Tiller facility, public attention has been focused on late term abortions.

A former abortionist who is now the president elect of the American Association of Obstetricians of Gynecologists has written questioning whether late term abortion is ever necessary.  Dr. Davenport states, " intentional abortion for maternal health particularly after viability is one of the great deceptions used to justify all abortions.  The very fact that the baby of an ill mother is viable raises the question of why, indeed, it is necessary to perform an abortion to end the pregnancy.  With any serious maternal health problem, termination of pregnancy can be accomplished by inducing labor or performing a caesarian section, saving both mother and baby."

She further points out that fetal problems, "are the other serious rational for reconsidering abortion.  Despite advances in ultrasound diagnosis, these diagnoses are not always accurate and cases have occurred where women have declined to abort their sick child only for the child to be born perfectly healthy."

Even in the most serious circumstances  of fatal fetal abnormalities Dr. Davenport says, "there is no good reason to abort the child.  As an alternative for abortion for fatal fetal birth defects perinatal hospice, which involves continuing the pregnancy until labor begins and giving birth normally in a setting of comfort and support until the natural death of the child occurs, is the option."

In our earlier blog, we asked for recommendations for members to serve on the new bioethics council for the President, I nominate Dr. Davenport.

Consensus

Quietly President Obama has dismantled the President's Council on Bioethics.  This group was formed in 2001 after President Bush issued his Executive Order on Embryonic Stem Cell Research.  This Council advised the President on policies relating to stem cell and many other bioethical issues.

White House press officer, Reid Cherlin, stated,"the Council was disbanded because it was designed by the Bush administration to be a philosophical leaning advisory group that favored discussion over developing a shared consensus.  President Obama will appoint a new bioethical commission one that offers practical policy options as a new mandate."

What!  Options rather than scientific facts? Any suggestions for the new bioethical council?

Parental Rights

Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina, recently introduced a Parental Rights Amendment. This amendment called for parental rights to be protected in the Constitution, as a fundamental and not just an implied right.

House Joint Resolution 42 was introduced on March 31st, 2009 by Representative Pete Hoekstra. This resolution would prevent international law from interfering with state laws on families and children. Joint Resolution 16 (The Parental Rights Amendment) was introduced as a companion bill to Joint Resolution 42.

The reason this resolution was introduced, Senator DeMint explained, "Now we're finding that parental rights are being attacked by courts all over the country. And as we look at where this country is going, particularly more association with the United Nations, these treaties would supercede all the laws in the 50 states."

We will keep you in the loop as this Joint Resolution winds it's way through Congress. One can only hope that this Joint Resolution will indeed be passed before the United States considers ratifying the UN Right of the Child Treaty.

Canadian Healthcare? R U Crazy?

New evidence that Canadian Healthcare reflects euthanasia by rationing has surfaced. Shona Holmes, a brain tumor survivor, mortgaged her home and came to the United States for care that saved her life.

Shona is speaking out against the healthcare reforms soon to be implemented in America. "I survived a brain tumor, but, if I relied on my government, I'd be dead." The reason? Canada's healthcare system told her she'd have to wait 6 months for the urgent care she needed.

Bureaucrats and politicians should never replace physicians. That is exactly what will happen if the government runs the healthcare system. Recent articles have pointed out that the government cannot even run the Veteran's healthcare. I ask, how is it going to run the nation's healthcare?

Dawn Johnsen

Dawn Johnsen is pro-abortion. She is also an Indiana University professor. She has been nominated by President Obama, to become the head of the Justice Department's Office of Legal Counsel.

At present, her confirmation is in doubt, because she has made comments equating pregnancy with slavery. Earlier the Senate Judiciary Committee approved the Johnsen nomination on a party line vote, but the Senate Democratic leadership has yet to schedule a vote, because of overwhelming verbal opposition. She is considered an abortion advocate because she was the legal director for NARAL twenty years ago, who wrote Supreme Court briefs with statements saying, "Abolishing abortion would make women forced breeders, and that pregnancy is similar to slavery, if abortion is outlawed."

When Johnsen worked at NARAL, she filed a brief with a footnote, saying, "Forcing a woman to bear a child, when she didn't want to, was disturbingly suggestive of involuntary servitude."

There's a reason Lady Justice is depicted wearing a blind fold which ensures her impartiality. Remember she holds two scales in her hands. Those scales are balanced, because she wears that blindfold.  I don't think Dawn Johnsen fits the bill. Her blindfold is off and so is she on both women and life issues. More to follow when the Senate votes.

Arnold & Planned Parenthood

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has proposed to roll back a rate increase for Family Pact program. This program provides free family planning services to qualified recipients, under the state's Medi-Cal system. This system does not pay for surgical abortions, but provides the morning after pill, which is abortifacient. This cut has caused Planned Parenthood affiliates a lot of concern. In fact, they are so concerned, that they have taken the Governor on.

The Governor's proposal would have saved $36.8 million dollars, by reducing reimbursement rates paid to agencies like Planned Parenthood, that provide services under the Medi-Cal program. This is a major source of income for Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood has even gone to the state legislature. Planned Parenthood announced, that the Budge Conference Committee, had rejected the Governor's proposed cuts to Family Pact. The budget is still not final and the Governor still has a chance to win.

If I was putting my money on a winner, it would be Planned Parenthood. If I was hoping for good public policy, I'd bet on the Governor.

Duty To Die

A reporter stated, In a recent editorial about the state of Washington, "Linda Fleming, a 66 yr. old, legally bankrupt cancer patient, living alone in Saquim, Washington, became the first person to kill herself under her state's new assisted suicide law." The measure that paved the way for Fleming's death allows suicidal adults to obtain lethal prescriptions, as long as they are competent and have been diagnosed with a terminal condition by two physicians.

Wow!  Progressive and liberating, isn't it. Just like Oregon, which has a similar law, and has facilitated more than 400 suicides since 1997.

Washington, where 58 % of voters approved the assisted suicide measure last Fall, many critics remain concerned. They worry, such laws will change a doctor's role, from healer to executioner. Remember Hippocrates separated the physician as healer, from killer in the year 500 BC. Is modern medicine smarter? Many of those who worry about the legalization of assisted suicide, worry that assisted suicide will pull resources from palliative care and confirm, to the severely ill patient, that they are burdensome and worthless. This could bring about a mind-set that there's a duty to die.

State legislators across the nation will be dealing with the duty to die. After all, it's an economic boon. It may even appear in some form in the Obama Healthcare Plan, in the subtle form of rationing.

Swine Flu

The only reason we are discussing vaccines is because we know that many vaccines are made from aborted fetuses. This is a clear right to life issue because abortion is our thing. Some comfort in the pandemic we are living through with the swine flu is that the newly developed vaccine for the swine flu is being made using ethical cell lines.

On Friday, the Swiss pharmaceutical giant Novartis announced, it had created an experimental dog kidney cell based technology, which relies on chicken eggs. Too bad for those who are allergic to eggs.

Over thirty countries have reportedly requested supply of the vaccine. In fact the US Dept of Health and Human Services placed a 289 million dollar order with Novartis last month.

Other companies, such as Sanofi Pasteur and Medimmune, are using aborted fetal cell lines as their cell culture. What this means is that concerned families, who may not have used the swine flu vaccine because of the aborted fetal cell line, have a moral choice.

Obama & The AMA

On June 15th, right here in Chicago, our President came home, not to roost, but to deliver a major speech to the American Medical Association (AMA). Please take note, the AMA does not represent physicians as a whole, only a part. A small part, I might add. However, that being said, they wield a great deal of money and political lobbying power. Obama's pitch was for that lobbying power.

A ticking time bomb is how President Obama described the nation's healthcare. He also reported to the group, that he was the man to fix it. He can't fix it until he deals with Tort Reform. The President remained adamant that Tort Reform was not in the healthcare agenda. I wonder what is? The President made no mention of abortion funded by the taxpayers and universally available.

On a personal note, the way to reform healthcare is to emphasize personal responsibility and accountability. In other words, one must participate in one's healthcare. That being said, I am opposed to Universal Healthcare, which leads me to ask this question, fundamental to the issue. Is healthcare a right or a privilege? I believe, since I pay for it, it is a privilege. In all actuality, we have universal healthcare. Anyone entering an emergency room is treated. Whether they can pay for it or not, or whether they're legal or not, they still receive healthcare. As a matter of fact, sometimes better healthcare than people who live in this country and have worked all their lives, receive. Why? If you pay for your own insurance, as many Americans do, your doctor can only treat you according to what that insurance allows. While the non-insured, or non-legal patient recieves full medical coverage, with no insurance to screening what they'll cover and what they won't.

If we're really concerned about healthcare costs, let's put some limits on Medicaid and Medicare. These limits are not imposed, or even on the table for discussion, because politicians want their vote. In fact, most Medicaid  patients use emergency rooms for minor problems, and every other medical reason that could be treated, for less money at a doctor's office. Those of us who have insurance know, that we will not be reimbursed, if we use an emergency room, when a physician's office can treat the same ailment. This abuse of emergency rooms, not only impacts emergency care, it places an undue burden on healthcare providers. I don't believe this is on the discussion block either. In fact, I think if healthcare reform is really on the National agenda, we should have real healthcare providers testifying on the problems, rather than politicians.

I think the debate on healthcare is healthy for the healthcare industry. Just as I think honest debate on all issues is healthy for society. People come from different perspectives. A good debate encourages people to think. That's the problem. People don't think. People today especially respond to emotions. You see a starving baby's picture and immediately you donate money. Many times, you don't know where your money is going. You simply responded on emotion.

A good debate depends on the truth. The truth on healthcare has to be out on the table, and it's not. The American public needs to hear the facts, not made up. The media, which hasn't told the truth in a long time, will not be starting with this debate. There's a hidden agenda here. Americans are smart people, and need to participate in this healthcare debate. But, I don't think President Obama will allow that.

NOW

News Flash! Kim Gandy, president of the pro-abortion woman's group NOW, plans to resign. The resignation will probably occur at the organization's national convention. Gandy has a 22 yr. tenure within NOW. She has been president of NOW for 8 years, and has built NOW to be a leading pro-abortion woman's group. Here's her quote: "It is an honor to be a part of this organization, which has allowed me to fulfill my passion to help women."

Really? I think, in the 22 years of her leadership, she has helped to hurt women as NOW advances the abortion agenda. Think of the recent polling statistic. When asked, Americans, who knew someone who had had an abortion, of those asked, 55%, described the abortion as a negative experience, while 33% described it as positive. Those statistics alone are overwhelming. Fifty-five percent of women regretted their abortion? NOW has promoted a quick-fix, rather than a caring outreach for women in crisis.

Recent polling indicates there are more Americans who embrace the pro-life position then the pro-abortion.

I wonder who will take her place? I wonder what the course of NOW will be? If they are really interested in women, perhaps they could add organizational support for those women who suffer the after effects of abortion.

Futile Care

Futile Care protocols are very popular in medicine today. In fact many hospitals have developed and implemented Futile Care protocols. What is Futile Care? It's the right of doctors to refuse wanted life support treatments, based on their personal values, rather than their professional knowledge, as to the quality of the patient's life.

What's the agenda? It's health care rationing and imposing a duty to die, sooner rather than later. Will Futile Care protocols be in the Obama Healthcare plan? I think so. Will ethics committees in hospitals continue to promote Futile Care protocols?

I think the answer is yes. Why? Because of cost containment.  No matter what the president says, regarding the expense of his Universal Coverage, there will not be enough money to fund it. Implementation of Futile Care protocols will reduce the cost by eliminating the patient. With the patient gone, the money can be used for other worthy diseases.

Sounds far fetched? I don't think so. Once abortion entered the medical profession, a respect for life was lost. Medical schools today are not required to take the Hippocratic Oath.

With the implementation of advanced directives, powers of attorney seem to be running medicine, rather than physicians. Does Futile Care occur? You bet. But, mostly, it's at the insistence of families. This comes from many societal reasons. First and foremost, may be selfishness, as the family unit disintegrates, so will the practice of medicine.

HR 2410

Imagine in an effort to reduce abortions, our Congress has just voted in the House to create a new Office for Global Women's Issues.  This office would be headed by an official (I'm sure pro-life) with the rank of ambassador charged with promoting women's empowerment.  Translate this - another international abortion headquarters with an ambassador in charge.  This fulfills Sec. Of State, Hillary Clinton's announcement, "We are now an administration that will protect the rights of women, including their rights of reproductive health care."  Translate again - unlimited abortion.

The passage of HR 2410 will now go to the U.S. Senate for a vote.  With 59 votes in the Senate, I am sure President Obama can come up with the 60th.  The U.S. House, with its vote on 2410 and the defeat of the pro-life amendment introduced by Rep. Chris Smith which would have restricted the offices work on abortion clearly shows a pro-abortion majority in the House.

To add insult to injury, apart from funding the State Department's budget, HR 2410 would pressure other countries to overturn laws that restrict homosexual and transsexual behavior.  It would also force our foreign service workers to undergo sensitivity training on the issue of sexual orientation and gender identity.

Teens for Life

Teens for Life is an award winning youth outreach.  The 're known for producing the world's only pro-life publication for teens.  Now, they are launching the first social networking site for teens.  The site features in depth networking for teens.  This allows for discussion, ideas, sharing multi-media and just hanging out with peers on line.

Mike Fichter editor for Teens for Life says, 'Our goal is to educate, motivate and activate a new generation to impact its culture by advancing positive and healthy alternatives to abortion.  The future of the pro-life movement is here and we are giving it a voice of its own."

Teensforlife.com offers viewers and visitors a wide range of changing resources to supplement social networking.  Information on crisis pregnancy, abstinence, milestones in fetal development, book and movie reviews are just a sample of what is available.

Finally, an alternative to myspace.  Let's visit it and see what we think.

Choose Life

June 10th marks the 10th anniversary of the Choose Life specialty plates.  24 states have these plates available and have raised more than 10 million dollars in user fees.  Usually that money is used to fund crisis pregnancy centers.  This is terrific since crisis pregnancy centers receive no state or federal funding.
Illinois, however, remains unable to buy Choose Life license plates.  This, in spite of 25,000 Illinois citizens who have signed petitions for the Choose Life plates.  If sold in Illinois, the money would have been used to fund Illinois adoption agencies.  These agencies would help children find life long homes and loving families.  These efforts in Illinois were defeated in the legislature, even though there are many other specialty plates that are routinely approved.

When the Illinois Choose Life petitions were submitted and a bill was introduced in the Illinois General Assembly and placed in a subcommittee, guess who the chairman was of the subcommittee?  You guessed it - State Senator Barack Obama.  The bill died without a hearing.

Even as a state senator you can see Obama is totally committed to the abortion movement.  He would not even allow a license plate with a positive message that would fund adoption, a viable and beautiful option to abortion.  With this history, why should anyone believe that he supports fewer abortions.

The Thomas Moore Society filed a petition in April asking the U.S. Supreme Court to review and revise the specialty plate in Illinois.  More to come.

Eggs

New York's Empire State Stem Cell Board is expected to vote on 6 -12-09 to use state money to pay women for their eggs.  These eggs would be used for research purposes.  This makes New York the only state to officially endorse a cash for egg scheme.

Egg donation is not like your usual chicken egg donation.  Perhaps New Yorker's should read Robin Cook's book on egg donation, Shock.  What many people don't know is that there are well-documented risks to the donor because of dangerous drugs necessary to stimulate the ovaries to produce eggs.

The short term risks are the drugs are the surgical retrieval process.  The long term risks include cancer and future fertility problems.

A good public policy is supposed to protect society.  A policy like this endangers young women.  Frankenstein and his doctor would be proud.  Dr. Mengele, call your office.

Obama's Health Care Plan - SCARY

Remember when President Obama spoke to the Planned Parenthood Action Fund while running for president?  Remember what he said?  We'll help you remember.  "My first act as president will be signing FOCA (Freedom of Choice Act).

Why are we worried now that he is president?  The FOCA  amounts to deregulation of the abortion industry and provides free federally funded abortions on demand.

We blogged on this before.  Abortion will be a universal right under universal health care.  Watch out.  It's coming.  Have you called your congressman?  Have you called the White House line?  If not, why not?

Late Trimester Abortions

Dr. Tiller was one of an unknown number who perform abortions in the third trimester of pregnancy ( 7th, 8th and 9th month).  HORRORS!  With Dr. Tiller's death, new facts are being revealed to the public.  In all honesty, they are not new facts, but they have been concealed to the public.

Physician Leory Carhart who performs late term abortions in Nebraska stated, "75 to 100 of the several thousand abortions he performs yearly are in the third trimester."

Stanley K. Henshaw, a senior fellow at the Guttenmacher Institute, the research arm of Planned Parenthood and the best source for statistics, is quoted in the Washington Post, " the information on late term abortions just isn't available."  Here's the real information from the  Guttenmacher Institute's own report. Its official statistics show that 13,310 abortions each year are at 21 weeks or more of gestational age.  To clarify, 1.1% of the 1.21 million abortions per year are past 21 weeks of pregnancy.  32 states of the 40 states reporting abortions, report  babies aborted at 21 weeks or more.

This means every day 37 babies, 21 weeks or older, are dismembered or decapitated.  These include healthy babies of healthy mothers, because it is legal.  These are babies that mothers feel moving.  They have a heartbeat that can be heard with a stethoscope.  They have eyebrows, eyelashes, finger nails and toe nails and they can hear.

Maybe the abortion debate should center on late term abortions, after all the other side has covered up these facts for a long time.

Sotomayor and Abortion

Supreme Court hopeful (one of the Supremes), Sonia Sotomayor was on the Board of the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund that submitted an amicus brief affirming a fundamental right to an abortion.

The brief states, "All Amici share an urgent concern that the Court clearly and unequivocally reaffirm Roe v. Wade... They fear that any tampering with the right to abortion recognized in Roe will have a powerful, adverse impact on the liberty, equality and health of poor women and women of color."

The brief also argues that laws requiring abortions to be performed in hospitals would place undue burden on minority and low income women seeking abortions.

First La Raza, now an Amici brief, what else is necessary for her true beliefs to be revealed? How about the meeting last week with pro-abortion senators Dianne Feinstein(D-Calif),Ron Wyden(D-Ore) and Olympia Snowe (R - MA), who all agreed that Sonia made it very clear she would not favor overturning Roe v. Wade?

China & Pigs

Chinese scientist have given cells, from adult pigs, the ability to turn into any tissue in the body, just like embryonic stem cells. Why, you ask? They hope, this breakthrough, could aid in the breeding of animals for organ transplants for humans. It may also enable the development of pigs that are resistant to diseases, such as swine flu.

Sounds suspicious to me. But then, most things from China sound suspicious to me. Is this breakthrough experimental? Are we achieving a medical good by animal/human transplant organs? I am well aware, that we use pig valves in human open heart surgical valve replacement, and have for many years. But, that's a valve, not an organ.

I would like further documentation before I would say we've eliminated swine flu.

Planned Parenthood & Obama's Health Care

Imagine the surprise to hear that Planned Parenthood is involved in the Healthcare Reform plan of President' Obama's. "Planned Parenthood must be an essential part of any health care reform," said Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood, "The fact is, nobody else can speak for men, women and teens. Planned Parenthood's healthcare centers serve them, and no one can serve them like we can."

Cecily Richards further stated, "Abortion is fundamental to improving our nation's healthcare system - and that means Planned Parenthood must be an essential part of healthcare reform."

Remember the meeting President Obama had, where no pro-life group was invited? However, he had the Human Rights Campaign, the National Council of La Raza (remember Sonya Sotomayor is a member of this council). La Raza (the race) supports abortion. Add to that list Planned Parenthood was at the Presiden't meeting. The meeting was about National Healthcare Reform.

With membership limited to only pro-abortion groups and no input on National Health Reform from pro-life organiztions, abortion may be the only reform covered in universal health.

Eternal Rest

Although this may be a personal view expressed, I believe, that as people of God, we should direct our energy in praying for the soul of George Tiller, and leave final judgement to Almighty God. I believe, as people of God, if we are going to play God, than play God as God would play God. I believe that God said, "vengeance is mine, sayeth the Lord".

Demonstrating at a funeral is, in my mind, brings the movement down to the lowest common denominator. Archbishop Joseph Naumann, the Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Kansas City, immediately, upon hearing the news, that George Tiller had been murdered, offered mass for the repose of his soul, and the comfort and consolation of his family. This is what we're called to do.

As pro-lifers, never lower the bar. We have the Truth. We must do everything for the unborn possible. We do not engage in violence, because we know violence only begets violence. We are people who understand the sanctity of human life. We say that everyday. Let's continue to be people of God and act that way.

God has also told us, that we love the sinner, but stand firm against the sin. The violence is finished. The pro-life movement needs to focus and continue it's efforst to protect the innocent and embrace a culture of life, and leave George Tiller to God.

Rights Of The Child

In a news release from the Catholic News Agency, Pope Benedict XVI has sent a telegram to the International Catholic Child Bureau (BICE) urging, "A new mobilization on behalf of children" initiated by the United Nations in Geneva."

The telegram references the UN Convention Rights Of The Child and says, "Twenty years after it's ratification, there is an urgent need for it to be implemented to the full, given the new challenges of the modern world."

Oh No! This UN Convention Rights Of The Child, takes away all parental rights, and will break apart families around the world. The bill stops all discipline from a parent. It goes on to state, that children do not have to go to Church if they don't want to. The Pope is calling on the International community to see that the principles outlined in the Convention, are put into practice.

The Holy Father further stressed, "Respecting the inviolable dignity and rights of children, of recognizing the fundamental educational mission of the family, and of a stable social environment capable of favoring the physical, cultural and moral development of all children. The Pope further continued by calling on BICE to work generously for a correct application of the Convention, and for the construction of a future of hope, security and happiness for the children of our world."

Please say it isn't so. I can't believe the Holy Father could be so mis-informed on the true depths of family destruction, which the implementation of this "Right" will bring about.  Maybe we will have a Village raising our children.

12.5 OZ. Baby Goes Home

Taylor Rideout born on March 12th, weighing 12.5 oz, roughly the weight of a pop can, is close to coming home after 83 days in a neo-natal unit.

The mother suffers from Lupus and during her pregnancy encountered life threatening complications. Faced with the possibility of death for both the mother and baby, the family chose to deliver the baby at 26 weeks. She was the smallest baby ever delivered at Magee-Woman's Hospital of UPMC in Pittsburgh.

What's so remarkable about this story? Many things. Probably the most important is that the family made a decision to have the baby rather than abort the baby. Babies at this gestational age, if aborted, are aborted by the partial-birth method. Secondly, the mother urged parents facing similar difficulties, never to give up. "I would tell them, don't give up on their child, if they're born small, or have a disease or anything. There's a God in this world, and if it's meant to be, it's meant to be."

Taylor is 83 days old and weighs 3 lbs. Life is beautiful if you give it a chance. To quote Dr. Zeuss, "A person's a person, no matter how small."

Say no to the nomination for the Dept. of Education's Safe & Drug Free Schools

President Obama and Arnie Duncan have nominated Kevin Jennings, a homosexual activist, for the Assistant Deputy Secretary for the Dept. of Education's Safe & Drug Free Schools.  Why should we be worried?  Here are a few facts about Arnie Duncan and Kevin Jennings.

Kevin Jennings is the founder of the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network (GLSEN).  GLSEN sponsored a youth workshop on Queer Sex and Sexuality which guided young teens on how to engage in perversion.  GLSEN safe school strategy is a Trojan horse designed to advance the normalization of harmful behaviors to impressionable children.

President Obama, with his nomination, is perhaps revealing the homosexual agenda for our school system.  A clear signal on the direction for our school system began with Obama's appointment  of Arnie Duncan as Education Secretary (a Cabinet position).  Arnie Duncan was the former Superintendent of Schools in Chicago.  Under his leadership, a strictly homosexual high school was proposed and came close to being funded.  It may still be funded, but has been put on hold for the present time due to the public outcry.

La Raza

WOW!  A recent alert from RightMarch.com PAC reveals that Judge Sotomayor is a member of La Raza.  In fact, the American Bar Association has listed Judge Sotomayor as a member of the National Council of La Raza.  What is La Raza?  It is a political group that promotes driver's licenses for illegal aliens, amnesty programs and no immigration law enforcement by local and state police.  La Raza means the race.  It has connections to organizations that advocate the separation of several southwestern states from the rest of America.

So much for the Constitution and the laws of the country.  One might even say she is a far left judicial activist. How can we believe she will interpret our Constitution the way the founders wrote it?  If she is a far left judicial activist, you know what her views on abortion would be.  Is this a Supreme Court nominee worth Senate confirmation?  If you think not, please call your U.S. Senators and tell them to vote no.

Sexting

Technological Tragedy Sexting - It is the exchange of explicit photos and videos via the internet or cell phone.  This is the latest teen trend that has led to an increase in teen suicide.

Technology in the past few years with cell phones and YouTube is instantaneous. Parents may not be aware of these advances.  Certainly schools are aware of sexting.  A Catholic school confronted sexting a few years ago because nude photos on cell phones were being passed around by the students.  What followed was a parental information seminar geared not only to high school aged students, but the middle grades.

Sexting is a new phenomenon since most teens and tweens own a cell phone.  This alone should be a red flag for parents.  Teachers, however, are aware of the problem.  In fact, Bill Boomer, Director of Marriage and Family Ministry in Cleveland is quoted, "sexting is a source of concern because teens don't think of the consequences of what they are doing.  Technology in the past few years has increased to a point where anything is possible instantaneously."

One high school teacher has been quoted, "the texting culture among high school and middle school students is so prevalent that she doesn't even try to deal with it or she would be confiscating phones all day."

Texting, Plan B, no parental notification for abortion - when will the outcry from parents come?

George Tiller RIP

We must start this blog by saying "Eternal rest grant onto him O Lord". We must continue to say, a society that tries to solve it's problems with violence, is a society that will only create more violence. On May 31st. George Tiller was shot and killed at 10:00AM in his church. The suspect, a white male, was apprehended by the law, shortly after the killing.

The suspect has been identified as 51 yr. old Scott Roeder of Merrian, Kansas. The suspect appears to have an affiliation with extremist political groups, but not with the mainstream pro-life movement. Immediately, the media linked the killing of George Tiller to the pro-life movement. Even though, every major pro-life group, condemned the killing.

George Tiller was acquitted of all charges last month in a trial in Kansas. However, the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts, stated it was bringing 11 charges against Tiller's license. The Board accused Tiller: "Performing an abortion on a fetus that was viable, without having a documented referral from another physician, not legally or financially affiliated with him; unprofessional or dishonorable conduct, or professional incompetency; and commitment of acts likely to deceive, defraud or harm the public." In other words, Dr. Tiller was in danger of losing his license to practice his gruesome profession shortly.

Just hours after the shooting, death of late term abortionist George Tiller, and without a potential suspect, leading pro-abortion organizations immediately blamed the pro-life advocates for his death. They painted the pro-life community with a broad brush, accusing them of setting a climate, leading to Tiller's death. In fact, Vicki Saporta, President of the National Abortion Federation said: "Individuals who oppose the right to choose, have used violence to try to advance their extreme anti-choice agenda." Planned Parenthood's President, Cecile Richards, said: "He was continually harassed by abortion opponents for much of his career."

All of this hoopla, when the suspect's motives are virtually unknown. Major media outlets immediately took up the cry, "Confirm Sonya Sotomayor." I found it interesting, that the pro-abortion groups, spent most of their time blaming the pro-life movement, rather than commending the soul of Dr. Tiller to Almighty God, and making statements that violence doesn't solve social problems.

The consequences to the pro-life movement, from this random act of violence are still unknown. The media controls the airways, and spins the story. The facts spun, by the media, will not have any relevance to the actual facts of the case. One fact the media has left out, is that George Tiller performed partial-birth abortions and late trimester abortions. That's his legacy.

Suicide

In China, a man heavily in debt, had been contemplating suicide on a bridge. Along comes a passerby, who is upset, because the person contemplating suicide is holding up traffic. Guess what he does? He pushes the gentleman off the bridge. However, the victim survived.

"I pushed him off, because jumpers like him are very selfish. Their action violates a lot of public interest." According to documents, the victim wanted to kill himself because be had incurred debt from a failed construction project. The attempted killer was released on bail. It has been said, he's been on medication for a mental illness for decades, and was on the way to the hospital to pick up his pills.

Violence should never be condoned. Whatever happened to the human race? Are we in such a hurry that we cannot wait. We can only push people off bridges because they're holding up traffic. This incident occurred in China. In the United States, over the weekend, another senseless act of violence occurred. Dr. George Tiller was shot and killed in the lobby, in a Wichita church. Violence only begets violence. A society that turns to violence to solve it's social problems, is a society in trouble. Pretty soon everybody will be pushing everybody off bridges.
