Young Teen loses baby after punched in the stomach

An aspiring rapper has been charged with “child destruction” for allegedly punching a 16-year-old in the stomach, causing her to lose her baby. The unidentified teen was seven months pregnant. The tragedy took place in Manchester, England.

Authorities charged 18-year-old Dusan Bako under the Infant Life (Preservation) Act. “It states that anyone who intentionally destroys the life of a child capable of being born alive could be found guilty,” according to Jaya Narain, reporting for The Daily Mail. “The law stipulates that the foetus would have to be 28 weeks or older for the charge to be made.”
Potentially the charge carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
“The circumstances surrounding this are exceptionally tragic,” said Detective Chief Inspector Jamie. “We have specially trained officers supporting the girl, who is distraught by what happened in a way I cannot begin to imagine.”

Jamie told Narain, “ ‘The incident happened in a public park in broad daylight [last Thursday] and we know from what people have already said to us that others may have been present in or around the park who have seen this take place or have information that can help us with this investigation.”
Bako is thought to be the girl’s boyfriend, but as of this morning authorities have not said he was the baby’s father or even in a relationship with her.
