Great Story

Welcome to our world, Ava Leigh

You would think that as the father of four, I would have been more understanding. But there I was, asking Melissa Ohden if she could put the finishing touches on a piece for the August issue of National Right to Life News just at the moment when Melissa was putting the finishing touches, so to speak, on the pregnancy of her second child.
We corresponded and we laughed about my terrible timing. Then, I got busy…
The next thing you know, it was Wednesday and Melissa delivered her second daughter. As Melissa subsequently wrote on Facebook

“We are grateful to share that Ava Leigh (weighing 7 lbs. 3 oz., 20 1/2 inches long), graced us with her birth today. We are all doing well and overjoyed to be so blessed.”

Olivia now has a sister.
NRL News and NRL News Today readers are familiar with Melissa, who has also spoken at numerous National Right to Life Conventions, including the most recent in Louisville. She is popular with everyone, but especially the teenagers.

When you describe Melissa as a survivor of a “failed” 1977 saline abortion, that is certainly true as far as it goes. But her story, which she has shared all over the world, goes way beyond that, including reconciliation with members of her biological family.
If you have not read her stories that have appeared in our publications, please go to nrlc.cc/1r0EmvZ; nrlc.cc/V4FShV; and nrlc.cc/1r0Euvn.
In honor of the birth of Ava Leigh and all that Melissa has done, I am also reposting one of my favorite stories that Melissa has written for NRL News Today.
