House of Horrors Trial Continues

Medical Examiner testifies about bags of “frozen fetuses” removed from Kermit Gosnell’s Women’s Medical Society Abortion Clinic

By Dave Andrusko
gosnellfrozenReporters new to the murder trial of abortionist Kermit Gosnell heard testimony Monday from Philadelphia Chief Medical Examiner Sam Gulino who told the jury about an “unprecedented” task.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer’s Joseph A. Slobodzian that task was “Examining bag after bag of frozen fetuses removed from Kermit Gosnell’s West Philadelphia abortion clinic.” Without guidance what to do, Gulino said

“he finally began opening the red and blue plastic bags that were crammed into Gosnell’s freezer and found the remains of 47 aborted fetuses ranging in age from 12 weeks – the end of the first trimester – to late second trimester and beyond the 24-week ceiling under Pennsylvania’s abortion law.
“Some were stored in makeshift containers such as a cut-down plastic distilled water jug or juice container. Other remains, body parts, were stored in cat and dog food containers.”

In previous testimony, former employees said Gosnell explained that the reason for another of Gosnell’s peculiar practices– keeping up to 30 specimen jars of fetal feet—was for “DNA testing” or “local medical research.” Gosnell explained that he kept a freezer full of aborted babies because he “was disputing charges by the medical waste firm that he used,” Slobodzian wrote. “He froze the remains and other medical waste for a resolution that never happened.”

The tremendous furor over the virtual media blackout of the Gosnell trial brought an additional but unspecified “influx” of reporters to a trial that is expected to continue several more weeks. Gosnell, 72, is charged with seven counts of first degree murder for aborting viable babies alive and then allegedly slitting their spinal cords; and one count of third degree murder in the death of a woman prosecutors said died because of an overdose of drugs administered by untrained staff.
