Planned Parenthood

PPFA attempts to put a religious gloss on the unspeakable violence of abortion

PPFAClergyEvery so often, pro-lifers will run smack into an unfortunate truth. Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion “provider,” never misses a trick, including playing the faith card.

Enter its “Clergy Advisory Board.” We’ve written about that before and have reprinted one of our posts today. Here are two other quick summary points.
Firsts, if you go to the CAB’s “Who We Are/Statement of Beliefs,” the CAB tells us that “clergy have a special responsibility to bear witness in support of reproductive rights so that the public and their elected representatives may understand the theological and moral basis for reproductive rights.”
Put another way, most people believe most denominations oppose abortion. The CAB is here to tell women this is not so–and in the process put a religious gloss on the vile action of dehumanizing violence inflicted on helpless unborn children.

Second, we also read, “We believe that both men and women have an inherent right to reproductive freedom, that this freedom includes the right to abortion, and that abortion is a complex moral and ethical issue that cannot be resolved by solutions that are simplistic or cruel.” (And, no, I am not making this up.)

While abortion “is a complex moral and ethical issue,” luckily for the clergy of the CAB, in their theological erudition they are able to miss that abortion is resolved simplistically and cruelly—by tearing unborn babies limb from limb.
