New Fox News Poll shows a public wanting to return to their health care system that was in place in 2009

As if President Obama didn’t already have enough to worry about, a Fox News poll released today found that “Nearly 7 out of 10 voters are concerned about their personal health care under the Affordable Care Act [ObamaCare] and a majority wants to take the health care system back to 2009.”
This latest evidence of popular discontent comes on the heels of a CNN/ORC International survey where 57% opposed all or most of the provisions of ObamaCare. Not only had the percentage in favor shrunk to 39%, the President’s signature domestic achievement is taking a hit among key Democratic constituencies. (See http://nrlc.cc/1542Zb6.)

Every piece of analysis of the sentiment of 900 voters by Fox News’ Dana Blanton bodes poorly for Obama.
#1. Of the 68% who are concerned about their health care under ObamaCare, 43% were “very” concerned while another 25% was “somewhat” concerned. Put another way more than twice are concerned as unworried (31%). Not surprisingly those 55-64 years old are the age group most likely to be worried about their health care—77%.

#2. There is no political subgroup that are immune: 56% of Democrats are concerned; 72% of Independents are concerned about their health care under ObamaCare as are 77% of Republicans.
#3. Gender gap? None. 70% of women and 65% of men are concerned.
#4. What about going back to 2009? By a 54% to 35%, voters want to go back to the health care system that was in place in 2009 versus leaving the new law in place. Only liberals (53%), Democrats (56%), and blacks (64%) want to stay with ObamaCare. Fifth and finally

#5. “An all-time high 58 percent of voters disapprove of how Obama’s handling of health care,” Blanton writes. That includes a third of Democrats (33 percent), two-thirds of independents (65 percent) and a large 83-percent majority of Republicans. Meanwhile, 38 percent approve of the job Obama is doing on health care. That’s down from 41 percent in June, and is just one percentage point higher than his low of 37 percent approval recorded in February 2010.”
