Outrages

Your Daily Outrage: Pro-lifers are terrorists, gendercide is “a crock,” and more!

There aren’t a lot of slow news days in the world of abortion, but this week, thanks in no small part to Live Action’s newest investigative video, I don’t even know what to write about first.
Let’s dive in, shall we?

1. One of the “doctors” caught on video admitting he would let babies die outside the womb is one Cesare F. Santangelo. He claims he has not viewed the undercover video, dismissing Live Action thusly: “I really consider them terrorists.”
I find Santangelo’s worldview sort of fascinating. Here’s how things work for him:
Wearing a hidden camera to record a conversation makes you a: Terrorist.
Aborting a 24-week baby and watching it die outside the womb makes you a: Doctor.
In the video, which you should totally see if you haven’t already, Santangelo tells the undercover investigator, who is 24 weeks pregnant, that if her baby were to be born alive during an abortion, whether or not the child would survive would depend on how “vigorously” they helped it. The way he says it makes it pretty clear that he’s not big on “vigorously” helping fetuses survive.
The Born Alive Infants Protection Act guarantees the rights of citizenship to a child born alive during an abortion. In other words, he or she is guaranteed life-saving medical care.
Fun Fact! According to the nonpartisan website FactCheck.org, President Obama claims he would have been “fully in support” of the federal Born Alive bill President Bush signed in 2002, but “voted in committee against the 2003 state bill that was nearly identical to the federal act he says he would have supported.”

2. This was pointed out to me by alert editor Drew. High five, Drew! Upon reviewing a piece on Live Action’s recent video at Policymic, Drew noticed something interesting about one of their photos. To wit: um, why is the floor of this room red?

0redfloor

In the immortal words of Ace Ventura, “This is a lovely room of death.”
Have you ever been in a medical facility with blood-red floors? It looks like the set of a Stanley Kubrick film. Could this seriously be an aesthetic choice? I can’t ascertain which clinic this is, but it does appear to be a room in which abortions are committed.
I bet the makers of red linoleum could find a lucrative niche market in the abortion industry. I mean, think about it: there is really no other area of medicine where the practitioners go to such great pains to conceal the results of an operation. Can you imagine your dentist discouraging you from viewing your own X-rays, or telling you it wasn’t really a tooth?
I bet Kermit Gosnell wishes he’d thought of red linoleum. Then they could have cleaned the floors once a year instead of twice.
3. In a recent email newsletter, NARAL Pro-Choice America came out against – that’s right, AGAINST – abortions based on gender and race.
Not super surprising. These people have proven over and over again that they are far less interested in protecting women than they are in protecting the abortion industry.
But file this under “Scraping the Bottom of the Barrel for News Sources:” their newsletter links to a Jezebel post.

Author Laura Beck, whose writer photo shows her up-ending a glass of wine, should consider sobering up before she attempts another post. Her argument that “fabled” sex-selective abortion is “a crock of s**t” pretty much stinks, considering studies such as Dr. Sunita Puri’s, published in Social Science and Medicine in 2011, in which 65 female Indian immigrants living in the United States participated, and 89% of those carrying girls aborted during the study. Oh, and 40 percent of them had aborted girls before.

Dr. Puri’s study goes on to describe the verbal and physical abuse to which the women who did end up having girls were subjected by their families.
The fact is, sex-selection abortion does happen in the U.S., especially among immigrants from son-preference cultures. Maybe Ms. Beck should cork the bottle and start rethinking the logic of a worldview in which protecting gendercide is pro-woman.
