In addition to asking pro-lifers to send out Tweets about the trial using the hashtag #Gosnell, organizers of the event are also asking them to contact their local media outlets to ask them why they’re not covering the trial.
Despite a continuous stream of dramatic, and often gruesome testimony coming out of the Pennsylvania courtroom where Gosnell is currently facing eight charges of murder, none of the major broadcast networks have covered the trial.
“If this was puppies that Gosnell was killing the media would be all over it,” Andy Moore, the director of AbortionWiki, one of the organizers of the “Tweetfest,” told LifeSiteNews.com in a telephone interview.
“However, if we can create enough of a groundswell of people talking about it, the media is going to have to respond," he said. "They’re going to have no other option but to respond with their version of what they think is going on.”
Other organizers of the Tweetfest include Bryan Kemper of Stand True Ministries & Priests for Life and Troy Newman of Operation Rescue.
They have set up a Facebook event page with instructions for how to participate in the event. The page also includes a wide variety of already formatted tweets that Twitter users can simply copy and paste onto their Twitter feed, including:

The creators have also put together an image that can be shared on Facebook to raise awareness about the “Tweetfest,” that reads, “Break the media blackout #Gosnell” and features a photo of the abortionist. They are encouraging Facebook and Twitter users to make the image their profile image. (Click here to find that image).
The goal, according to the Facebook event page, is to “inundate social media with facts from the Gosnell court case.”
“There’s an abortion doctor here on seven counts of 1st degree murder,” Moore said. “This is evil. But look, the same thing is happening in abortion clinics all across North America. Maybe babies’ spinal cords are not getting snipped, but they’re still being torn apart in horrific ways and being murdered.
“The abortion industry deserves their name,” he said, “and here’s an opportunity to ensure that they are seen in the light that they deserve.”
As of this writing, over 1,000 people have responded saying that they will be participating in the Tweetfest, while nearly 20,000 invitations have been sent. The numbers are climbing by the minute.
