The Week after the furor over the PPFA video: “Abortion is just like any other surgery” (Part Three)
By Dave AndruskoA Tweet from “Everybody Loves Raymond” Star Patricia Heaton”
As you recall, pro-lifers implored the MSM to cover what was (by usual media standards) nothing less than a sensational murder trial. To that point in time (aka pre-House of Horrors), you could not have made up a story of such callous brutality to women and ferocity towards hundreds (if not many more) of viable unborn babies whom Gosnell aborted alive and then murdered by slitting their spinal cords.
At the time Mollie Hemingway (of Getreligion.org) tweeted Sarah Kliff, then of the Washington Post, to ask why Kliff refused to cover the Gosnell trial. Kliff’s response was so painfully, embarrassingly inadequate that you couldn’t help but cringe:
“Hi Molly – I cover policy for the Washington Post, not local crime, hence why I wrote about all the policy issues you mention.”
It will require investigations and probes by Congress and/or the
states to find out whether PPFA or various middle men they used to pass
along intact baby body parts to researchers engaged in behavior that
violated the law. But there is nothing “local” about the story inspired
by the undercover work of the Center for Medical Progress. For now, we can say that the comments of Dr. Deborah Nucatola, senior director for medical services for the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, matter-of-factly made to two undercover investigators are highly intriguing and are doubtless keeping PPFA officials up nights.
As we discussed last week, Planned Parenthood’s Cecile Richards offered a tepid “apology” for the “tone” of Dr. Nucatola’s cavalier remarks in the context of a fiery defense of PPFA’s ethics. Moreover, proving yet again that phony “concern” for women in the last refuge of the Abortion Industry, she added in her YouTube video
Planned Parenthood stands behind
our work to help women and families donate tissue for medical research
when they wish to. It is always their decision. I thank those women and
families who have chosen tissue donation at some point in their lives.
Your commitment to lifesaving research, developing treatments for
diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, is important and
compassionate, and it should be respected – not attacked.”
There is one response I did not expect to see, at least not in this particular example of PPFA’s hip-deep involvement in moving baby body parts along to those wonderful people who will experiment on them.
That is, that while abortion is (to offer just four examples) “bloody”; “often gory and gruesome”; “gross, no doubt about it. It becomes grosser the later in a pregnancy it gets”; and “the details are gruesome, as are many medical procedures,” so is all surgery. It’s the nature of slicing into the human body (my characterization of what they are saying). It’s gory,
This is, of course, rote, by the numbers pro-abortion talking points, the absolute classic example of avoiding the absolutely fundamental differences.
Your diseased liver is never going to be in swinging on the playground. Your artery-clogged heart is never going to walk with you to school. Your congested lungs will never say “I love you, Mommy.”
Nor will the baby’s intact skull, removed oh-so-carefully by the tradesmen who work at Planned Parenthood ever smile up at you and thank you for life. The baby’s skull and brains are now an “it” to be sent along to people who make a living experimenting on the remains of aborted babies.
This particular pro-abortion response, amid the treasure trove of idiotic retorts, is so stupid, so insensitive, so insulting to your intelligence, it’s difficult not to get really angry.
When PPFA officials are required to explain exactly what it is they are doing with these intact baby parts, I hope they get asked if they believe this drivel for even one second.
