Man arrested after threatening to kill girlfriend who would not abort
By Dave Andrusko
A 20-year-old Ghanaian man was arrested after he threatening to kill his former girlfriend when she refused to abort the baby, the Daily Graphic reported this week. Komla Gamor has been charged with threat of death and possession of firearms without authority.
The threats followed a public confrontation where, according to police, Gamor beat 18-year-old Georgina Abaryitey until bystanders separated them.
Chief Superintendent of Police Mr. Abraham Acquaye told the Daily Graphic that Gamor had previously asked Abaryitev to abort after he learned she was a few weeks pregnant. She refused and after an argument, they separated and Gamor found a new girlfriend, the Daily Graphic reported.
Matters escalated April 5 at a naming celebration where Gamor saw Abaryitey dancing with another man. Later he pulled Abaryitey aside and asked if she had aborted.

[W]hen she insisted she was still keeping it, he (Gamor) pounced on her and beat her until they were separated by those around.
But Gamor was said to have gone
to his house at Ofankor and returned with a locally manufactured gun and
started threatening to shoot the woman.
According to Mr. Acquaye, “Gamor told the police he found the gun
while he was weeding near his house at Ofankor and decided to keep it.”
