Assisted Suicide Poll

Please vote in online poll asking whether assisted suicide should be legalized

By Dave Andrusko
AssistedSuicidepollOn Wednesday we posted a riveting story about the compelling testimony of former Baltimore Ravens football player O.J. Brigance against a bill to legalize assisted suicide in Maryland.
In 2007 Brigance was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). He delivered his testimony Tuesday from a wheelchair, aided by a machine to replace the voice the degenerative disease has taken from him. His remarks were part of two hours of testimony before the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee.

Baltimore Sun reporter Erin Cox wrote that “the former linebacker told Maryland lawmakers that his most significant feat came after he grieved over his degenerative condition and decided to live.”
“Because I decided to live life the best I could, there has been a ripple effect of goodness in the world,” Brigance said. “Since being diagnosed, I have done a greater good for society in eight years than in my previous 37 years on earth.”

The Baltimore Sun is running an online poll asking readers to respond to the question, “Should Maryland allow physicians to prescribe a life-ending drug for certain terminally ill patients, as two bills propose?”
Please take a moment and go to the online poll where you can express your opposition.
