What Do They Mean When They Say "Choice"?

#prochoice @NARAL #BlogforChoiceDay #prolife
Tell someone who identifies as "pro-choice" that they are "pro-abortion. Try it. If you ever have, you know that, without exception, they take great offense.

This is not a new phenomenon. During the Lincoln-Douglas debates, Abraham Lincoln referred to Stephen A. Douglas as being pro-slavery. Douglas, who actually owned slaves indirectly through his wife, took great umbrage at the label. Douglas' stated position was that he was not pro-slavery, but rather that he was in favor of allowing each state to decide its own policies regarding slavery. In the parlance of today, Douglas was "pro-choice" on slavery. Of course, he never inquired as to what "choice" the slaves themselves might prefer.

Does anyone remember anything Stephen A. Douglas ever did or said on any other topic? Defending slavery was hardly his life's work. As a three-term U.S. Senator, Douglas devoted himself to streamlining the process of bringing new western states into the Union. Douglas' driving passion was the expansion of the United States. But what he is remembered for is having been wrong on slavery.

On this anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision, politicians of today should take a lesson from Stephen Douglas. Those on the wrong side of the abortion debate, who finesse their positions by claiming to be "personally opposed, but..." pro-choice civil libertarians -- especially those Democrats who want to regulate every single other aspect of our lives -- are only going to be remembered for their complicity in the murders of over 53,000,000 innocents so far, a holocaust that dwarfs the achievements of Hitler or Stalin.

What do they mean by "choice" anyway? I'll give you a hint: they're not talking about peanut butter.

"Choice" means the right of a woman to choose whether to love her baby, or kill him.

"Choice" means that you have to pay, through your federal, state, and local governments, over $300,000,000 per year to Planned Parenthood alone.

"Choice" means that a baby might be killed by having her arms, legs and head sawed off in the womb, and her trunk divided into sections.

"Choice" means that a baby might be killed by having his body bathed in acid.

"Choice" means that a baby might be killed by having her birth forced prematurely, and be left to gasp out her life in a soiled hospital linen closet, or else have her skull pierced with a pair of scissors.

"Choice' means that a baby's humanity (or lack thereof) will be judged by his health.

"Choice" means that a baby's humanity will be judged not on her health, but on her ability to survive outside the environment that's natural for her state of development.

"Choice" means that his humanity will be judged on his father's criminal conduct.

"Choice" means that a baby has no rights that a born person must respect.

"Choice" means that we have to tolerate 1.5 million abortions per year, including women getting their third and fourth abortions, including abortions as birth control, including partial birth and other late term abortions, including abortions instead of reporting child abuse, including abortions instead of reporting statutory rape, including abortions for minors without their parents' knowledge or consent and including nearly half (or more) of abortions sought because the mother was either coerced or abandoned by someone on whom she should have been able to depend.

If you're pro-choice, this is what you're OK with.

Though how you sleep at night, God only knows.

"Epidemic" of Coerced Abortions in U.S.

LifeNews reports:
Women who refuse requests from their husbands or boyfriends to have abortions are often finding themselves subject to violent attacks that sometimes result in their deaths. That's the finding of a new report from the Elliot Institute, which calls the problem a "widespread epidemic."

The new report, Forced Abortion in America, is drawing attention to attacks on pregnant women and girls in order to prevent them from continuing their pregnancies.

It points out a "widespread epidemic of unwanted, coerced and forced abortions taking place in the United States."

The report notes how research suggests most abortions are likely unwanted or coerced, with one survey of women who had abortions finding that 64 percent said they felt pressured by others to abort.

The same survey found 80 percent of women said they did not receive the counseling they needed to make a decision -- even though more than half said they felt rushed or uncertain about the abortion.

The consequences for those who refuse abortion can be dangerous and even deadly, according to the report, which details cases of women and girls facing violent attacks or murder for resisting abortion.

Studies of death rates among pregnant women in the U.S. have found that homicide is the leading cause of death among pregnant women, the authors say.
I've often said that when pro-aborts talk about "choice," the only "choice" they mean is the choice to kill. It's only when you recognize this that the things they do and say make any sense.

It's only when you realize that "choice" just means "killing" that the actions of these "pro-choice" people make any sense:
* A Kansas man and his wife were convicted of sexual abuse after the man raped his stepdaughters over a several year period, resulting in four pregnancies and at least one abortion, performed on an 11-year-old. The case was reported to authorities by a pro-life organization after one of the girls visited their office seeking an abortion; the group says that the abortion business did the abortion without informing authorities of any suspected abuse.

* Two Ohio teenagers were convicted for kidnapping and assaulting a pregnant teen, killing her unborn child. Police said one of the boys thought he had fathered the child, and the two hit the teen and kicked her the abdomen to cause the death of her 8-month-old unborn child. One of them allegedly told her that she should have gotten an abortion, and that "now your baby is going to die." DNA tests showed the teen was not the father.

* A man was sentenced to 9 years in prison for secretly giving his wife an abortion-inducing drug after she refused to abort. The woman secretly taped him admitting to giving her the drug but trying to convince her that she really wanted to have an abortion.

* A high school junior was beaten to death by her 22-year-old boyfriend after she refused to have an abortion. According to police, the man hit the teen at least four times on the head with a bat and admitted he did not want her to have the baby. He pleaded guilty after leading police to the girl's body, which he had buried under leaves in the woods. The man was sentenced to 22 years to life in prison.
[Emphasis added.]
We know, because the pro-aborts tell us, that (in the words of President Obama) "no one is 'pro-abortion.'" If that's true, then these people must simply be "pro-choice." Which only makes sense if by "choice" you mean, "killing unborn babies for any reason or no reason, and by the cruelest means imaginable."
