MSNBC ratings heading south in a hurry
By Dave Andrusko
A short but satisfying post.
I don’t know how many stories we’ve written about MSNBC, the electronic counterpart to the New York Times as a mouthpiece/megaphone for the most outrageous pro-abortion sentiment.
To name just a few, Rachel Maddow ,Melissa Harris-Perry, Alex Wagner, Thomas Roberts, Alex Witt, Nancy Giles, Chris Hayes, etc., etc. , etc. What a bunch.
As you may know, in 2010 MSNBC adopted the tagline “Lean Forward.” Judging by the latest ratings tumble, they may be leaning over the abyss.
Times were flush in January 2012 with newly re-elected MSNBC favorite Barack Obama helping to buoy their ratings. But according to “The Wrap,” it’s scary times.
Over two years later, the network has fallen backwards. January ratings revealed double-digit declines compared with January, 2014 in all ratings measurements. During the day, MSNBC was down 20 percent in viewers and 37 percent in the advertising-coveted 25-54 demo. In primetime, it fell 23 percent in viewers and 39 percent in demo.
A couple of other nuggets:
· In January, “’The Rachel Maddow Show’ was down 50 percent in the demo year over year.”
· One of their afternoon programs drew
just 26,000 viewers, finishing fourth behind even HLN (formerly known as
“CNN Headline News”). More than one program hosts may be replaced.
· There are primetime programs anchored by what The Wrap calls “younger, wonky hosts” that are not doing well.
