Wendy Davis is pro-life??
By Carol Tobias, President, National Right to LifePro-abortion Texas state Senator Wendy Davis, now running for governor, is claiming to be pro-life. Davis is known nationwide for leading a filibuster in the Texas senate in an attempt to make sure that unborn babies capable of feeling pain (20-weeks fetal age) continue to be killed by abortion in Texas. Thankfully, she lost that legislative battle and unborn children who can feel pain are now protected in Texas, but she became a national hero to pro-abortion forces.
Davis has apparently discovered, through her statewide campaign, that Texas is pro-life and is trying to confuse voters about her true position on abortion. She says that one of her goals is to have “zero abortions” occur in the state of Texas. Then why did she fight so hard to kill legislation that would save unborn babies?
Over the years, we have seen pro-abortion candidates try to say that you can be pro-life if you support abortion as long as you care about people already born. That seems to be the angle Davis is pushing. She can be pro-life as long as she’s pushing for a good education for those children who are already here.
At a time when pro-abortion forces in the media and elsewhere would have everyone believe that the “war on women” is working as a strategy for pro-abortion Democratic candidates, it’s a bit puzzling as to why the national hero of abortion advocates would now try to downplay her position on abortion, even going so far as to say she’s pro-life.
Then again, maybe it isn’t so puzzling. Maybe she’s finding out what the rest of us already know. Deep down in its conscience, America as a country still knows it’s wrong to kill unborn children.
